Ever heard about Mushi-shi? Probably not. It's not a very known seinen anime, but it's increadibly worth discovering and I'd like to share it to my fellow dollars.
If you're searching for action, you WON'T find any. Mushi-Shi is an increadibly calm and soothing anime with breathtaking graphics and astounding music. The story is very simple: Ginko is a mushi-Shi, a Mushi hunter. Mushis are a sort of primal life, way before plants and animals. Sometimes, they "infect" the human body and Ginko tries to find a way to cure them. None of all the 26 episodes have a connection; it's like 26 mini-movies. It's very philosophical and it makes you want to LOVE life.I highly recommend it to anyone with a minimal of love for nature.

I know it and I've watched it and it's absolutely amazing.
It took me a while to get through it, almost a year from the first episode to the last, but this isn't the type of anime to marathon anyway. It has this ability to completely draw you in and calm you down even if there's something on your mind. I can't think of anything quite like it.

I watched Mushi-shi during 2009, and imho the anime really stands out in terms of its settings (quite unique, I must say), story (each episode is a story of its own) and mostly the music. Ahhhhhhh, the music. Can anything else be so haunting and beautiful at the same time?

I love Mushi-shi so much. I saw it on TV, and then I was hooked. It's such a breath of fresh air in the anime world.
The only way I can describe it is it's like morning fog. Slightly unsettling, but calming at the same time. The art is crisp and clean, and I love the use of colors. Mostly muted, but then the important pieces of the episode's story are very bright.

Oh right, I found out yesterday and forgot about posting in the thread oops.
It's really great!! With Yuto Nakano as Ginko I god damn hope. Also, I'm secretly hoping that the special is also used to gouge if there's still an audience for Mushishi and if it's well received they might consider an actual anime. Even 13 eps would be great, but I'm not holding my breath, because the manga material has always been there and was never used.

This anime is almost as perceptive and intertwined as Durarara is. Actually, it's even more so than Durarara is. It brings a new look to life, and makes you wish that you could see through the second eye...

I can't get over the eclipse scene at the beginning of the OVA Special where they show all of the characters from the show... That really did it for me. It feels like the culmination of everything the show built in one fantastic retrospection (with a fucking amazing score to accompany it, I might add). I really hope they release the OST for this, I would highly consider importing it.
I'm so psyched for season 2... The development of Nagahami's style as a director has been a pleasure to behold so far, and I'm quite certain this new season is going to be groundbreaking in it's own right, especially after that OVA.

I just watched the special episode and I loved it. It captured the essence of the series beautifully, and was just pure joy to experience.
Normally, I'm not too keen on studios releasing more material of something I loved after a lot of time has passed because I worry that it'll be sub-par and bring down the series as a whole, but the special greatly assuaged my fears of that happening, and actually makes me want to watch the second season as it airs, which is something I typically don't like to do because I hate waiting a week for each new episode, as I've noticed it lessens my enjoyment.
God, I'm so jazzed for the second season now!

Is anyone else watching the 2nd season? I'm really loving it so far. It's like it never left! I only hope that if it gets dubbed in English, FUNimation gets that license. An English dub without Travis Willingham would be so awkward to me. Unfortunately, Aniplex of America has the streaming license. The movie that adapts the last arc in the manga is coming out on May 16! Since that's the date when it's coming out in cinemas I'm not sure when it'll be available online.
