Has anyone watched it? My friend is obsessed with it, and I just wanted to know what's so great about a show about baseball? x3 I know it's interesting and stuff, but is it really that great? I might start watching it since I just finished watching Suteki Detective Labyrinth... YAY. Opinions plz.
It's love on a stick! It has hints of shounen ai but not a lot. It's so cute and adorable and I like baseball so it was pretty cool. Kind of like prince of tennis in some ways.
>>2 Not exacly like prince of tennis. >_< The main character in Ookiku is a slow person that means, he can't even say a meaning well without being nervous.. (Well he is cute, but in season 2 he talks more) :D My opinion.
This was the first sports anime I've watched and I loved it. At first it seemed like a show all about baseball would get repetitive, but the character development is excellent. Oh and watch it in English because the voice acting is hilarious!
Almost done with the second (and only other) season. I really want to praise this show for how well the strategy was planned out and explained in each game. Furthermore, you didn't just get the strategy of Nishiura, but also the opposing teams they played against. It gave it a far more realistic quality instead of that "root for these guys, k they won, woohoo plot" feeling. I just wish my cousin's Little League games were this entertaining.
I still question whether or not Mihashi has some sort of mental disorder. I get that his personality is usually played for comedic effects (as well as that panicking face of his), but after a while I found it hard to root for him. His self-doubt is just so irritating.
...justified in that it's irritating in-show too, but still.
This is honestly my all-time favourite series of anything ever.
The characters and their growth throughout the series, especially Mihashi's, is amazingly well done. It also completely displays the struggles of having to form relationships with teammates as well as overcoming serious hardships such as injuries. It even delves into the darker behind-the-scenes things that happen in baseball, mainly cheating.
I think the main thing that I love about this series is the friendships that the characters form with each other, as well as the shenanigans that they get into when they're not playing baseball. We get to see them having to deal with school life and other problems outside of baseball. It's just a very well written series that deserves to have the rest of the story animated.
All in all, this series deserves a lot more love than it gets. The size of the fandom is severely disappointing.
