I just finished watching this series last night, after starting..last night.
It was really amazing.

For fans of Durarara that haven't seen it, I highly recommend you watch.
For people not fans of Durarara that haven't seen it, I highly recommend you watch.
You'll be confused at first, what with the nonlinear plot, but it's just so awesome you won't care until you actually do understand the plot.

Made this thread on a whim because I wanted to talk about it. There's too much win for me to single out specific parts (any scene with Isaac and Miria, the Rail Tracer, I could go on), so I'll just let a discussion happen.

one of the main reasons i watched durarara was because i heard it was full of baccano posters and the like. and when i saw isaac and miria in it, i was happy. :D

That's funny, because I watched Baccano after people were telling me it was by the same people that later did Durarara.

They're both quite awesome in their own rights.

And I rewatched the scene with them in it and I appreciate it a lot more now :D

Baccano's anime was more fast paced. I wish Drrr moved a bit more at that speed, it seemed to drag on.

Don't get me wrong, I loved it, but theres more to complain about in it, especially after baccano.
Just my opinion. Maybe I'm being too harsh, seeing as this is a Dollars site.

So what is this show actually about, roughly? Actually, scratch that - that may be a bit too confusing to answer. Is the show generally supposed to be serious? Or is it more of a comedy? I assume the answer is that its going to be a mix of both or something, but does it have a generally serious plot? I realize this is an ignorant question, I'm probably better off just watching the show, its not like I have anything to lose lol.

When the genre of something isn't immediately called "comedy" or "drama", it's unfair to rate it on a comedic or dramatic level.
I could say, yes, it's a "mix of comedy and drama", but that just wouldn't do it justice.

You do have to watch it to get the full jist of it - I can't describe to you the character development, the excellent plot, or the expertly done art and voice acting without spoiling the show itself for you.

If you're worried about genre, don't - fans of anything can enjoy it, unless you're like only into dating sims or something completely different.

I was watching last night Durarara again. And then Miria and Isaac show up in the Dollars reunion. Damn that was really awesome and cool. The first time I watched Durarara I don't know who the heck were those guys. Now I do. They are AWESOME.

Baccano is the whole reason I started watching Durarara. At first I was frustrated with Durarara because it wasn't as fast as Baccano and has that annoying voice over, but now I'm almost just as into Durarara as I am into Baccano. But I still like Baccano better.

Enough to make an AMV out of it to Katy Perry's Last Friday Night and to ask Todd Haberkorn, Firo's American voice actor, if he could say "I love you, Maiza" in his Firo voice. ^^' *awkward yaoi fangirl who likes the pairings that no one makes videos, fan art, or fan fics for*

I'd already seen this show before Durarara started airing on Adult Swim. I actually like Durarara quite a lot better (that's not to say that I don't like Baccano though). While I really like Baccano, especially the characters, I like the Durarara characters more. They seem more relatable to me. I also think the story has a bit more substance than Baccano's story.

Have any of you read the light novels? I haven't yet, but I really want to, but there not being an official English translation of them makes it difficult. They're only in Japanese and Chinese unless someone translates them and posts them on the Internets, but most of them are incomplete....

I watched Durarara because of Baccano, and I think I like Baccano better (because of the better pacing and the ending felt a bit more satisfying than the ending of Durarara in my opinion). Totally love Firo, but Isaac and Miria are definitely a bit more up there.

I haven't wathced Baccano! yet but after reading this thread I think I will definitely give it ago :3

I just started this show today thanks to this form and it is amazing the voice acting is just stellar! The dialog is amazing to it really is such a good show im already addicted thanks Dollars!!

Omg Miara and Isac are like 1930's verion of Jessie and James i am soooo obsessed with them is crazy and i thought it was cute how durarara they make mention of them in episode 11. The cast though is really amazing so many likeable or interesting characters I can tell this is going to be a great story!

I like DRRR! 'cause it's set at a relaxed pace. The characters are interesting, the story is original, and I can connect with the characters view points. I love the art style... and Shizuo. FLYING VENDING MACHINES!!!~

I like Baccano! 'cause it's more action based and it has the MAFIA. There's lots of twists, turns and murders, and who doesn't like a good elixir of immortality? Also, Isaac and Miria, definitely Isaac and Miria.

It was alright, I liked Durarara better because of the plot.

Firo is a lot like Shizuo... They are both like heroes in a certain sense but I it's a good thing to be pointed out that everyone, even the very non-hero characters, are protagonists.

Isaac and Miria are present in both the latter past (the irony) and the other past, plus, they're very interesting as a couple. But it can't be deduced that they're the protagonists because as Narita had said it, "All there is, is a performance of people connecting, living, influencing each other, and departing." There is no protagonist.

Well, Baccano! was the reason how I learned about Durarara!! It really is well fast paced and the Dub is awesome! Loved every minute of it! <3 And I guess Unlike Durarara!! the ending left me satisfied. :)

I adore Baccano! I learnt about DRRR from it, personally, so I can't really bring myself to compare, but now that I'm reading the light novels for Baccano, it's just THAT much more amazing! There's more in the first novel than there is in the WHOLE anime! :D

I've watched both DRRR and Baccano, and out of the two Baccano beats DRRR because the storyline is constant and the characters have distinct personalities and differences. Plus Isaac and Miria are amazing :D

Baccano! didn't confuse me anywhere near as much as I thought it would. I absolutely adored it, though. Probably one of my favorite animes; I just don't like how short it was. It could have been so much longer and had so much more to it. On the other hand, though, it must have been so hard to put it together (considering how they mixed the times around so much). I can't blame them for not wanting to make it longer. Even then, the animation was absolutely superb in Baccano! The art itself wasn't that great, but all the detail in the animation made the movements smooth without being unrealistic. All that probably just killed the budget. Still, I'm happy it was made at all, and I hope there's a sequel one day.

Firo, Czes, and Nice were fucking adorable in their own ways. However, Nice needs a better man than Jacuzzi >o<

Just finished watching the anime and it was pretty AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I probably have to re-watch it again to reconnect all the events that happened. My favorite character has to be Vino. He's so freaking crazy yet keeps his sanity! XD

I've actually seen Baccano before Durarara. It didn't confuse me at all. Probably because I was so drawn into it, I watched the whole thing in one day. I thought it was pretty cool to see all the Baccano references in Drrr, as well as Isaac and Miria themselves :)

Watched Baccano! before DRRR and loved it. You sir are awesome for loving it too. Personally my favorite characters are Ladd and Luck, Ladd because he's a psychopathic mofo and Luck just because. I also thought it was pretty cool when I saw all the Baccano! references in DRRR :P

Same here, I watched Baccano long before DRRR and loved every second of it, when I started watching Durarara I quickly realized how similar the shows are, personally I see the only huge difference as the time period itself, they're both full of interesting diverse characters with no TRUE main character, though some are much more important than others, and all the important characters aren't even necessarily on the same side. Some friends, enemies, lovers, and two just plain want the other guy dead! Not to mention it had many a tribute to Baccano! How awesome is that?

The way I see it Baccano is the original, and the original is always good!

I personally liked Baccano a lot better that DRRR. Though I liked how Miria and Issac showed up once in a while in DRRR. It could be that Baccano almost always ended each episode with a cliff hanger, along with all the individual stories in each scenario.

Baccano is probably one of the greatest anime out there and it makes me wonder "how did this not get popular?" While durarara is more popular baccano is very highly praised. Keep in mind that while the series is AWESOME most of the time it can get slightly gory at times and you should expect a lot of blood. Very fun watch though.

I can't believe I waited as long as I did to watch this anime. I had known of Baccano for a few years now but had just watched it two days ago. WHY DIDN'T I WATCH IT SOONER?

This is by far one of the best anime I have ever seen. The characters are all interesting and likable in some way, and the fact that there are three storylines, each connecting to the others, makes this a very unique and entertaining show.

If there is anyone who hasn't seen this anime, I highly recommend that you do. You will not be disappointed.

Just got the DVD delivered today. Watched it so many times and still not tired of it. Kind of sad that it doesn't have as much fans as DRRR but oh well. If you like DRRR you will love this :D

Baccano was probably better than DRRR. I really liked all the characters more than anyone from DRRR.

I fell in love with Baccano! twice, I saw it in DUB 3 years ago...the DUB is just amazing in this show...I really wanted a second season, or even a movie.
In the end, Baccano! changed my life. Highly recommend this anime...

I love baccano! it was only my 4th anime I had watched (Durarara!! being my 6th) but unlike most I really like the ending song and I don't think people understand what the dark rail road means. it means time, think about it, time passing is like a dark road and you cant see whats ahead so that in way got to me making me like the ending a lot plus I think the song is just amazing but I naver really liked the op I just am not one for jazz but everything els about the show is awesome (but I prefer Durarara!! don't really know why Duarara!! got to me and became my favorite anime) well Baccano! is awesome

Haven't really tried watching it(yet), but I found it funny that there was an anime with the same name as our password(maybe stupid a little).

I loved Baccano, especially Issac and Miria. They're so cute and funny together. And yes, I admit I love Chane and Claire together too, lol. I felt the opening song captured the unpredictability of the characters. Plus, it's just really awesome to hear!

Baccano! tops my favorite anime list. I love how they made each of the characters unique in their own way and their philosophies in life. It's an anime that you'll need to focus on on every second of every episode. It just keeps you wanting for more.

Watching Baccano! was how I found out about Drrr!! and it's my favourite anime, I love all the characters, especially Isaac and Miria and Claire! The OST is amazing and I love the accents from the dub. All in all a great anime, I would highly recommend it to anyone who hasn't seen it, and if you have, go watch it again!

Baccano! was one of my first anime, and is still one of my favorites. It's also one of the only anime that I enjoy the English dub, and it has an amazing soundtrack. I'm always trying to get my friends to watch it, but sadly it doesn't seem to strike them in the same way it does for me.

This anime is an instant classic in my opinion. I'm surprised that it isn't as well known as other anime, it should be! I love the disassembled plots and the characters are all very strong and unique. This is literally perfection at it's finest. I can see non anime fans growing to love this as well.

It's extremely unique and I love it! But for me it wasn't as interesting in the last episode or so, but it's still an anime that I love and wont forget.
