I can't wait to scope this. The manga is beyond impressive.

Finally got around to checking it out, so much to download lately. I was happy with it, though Madhouse seems to be giving Gainax a run for their money in the fanservice department.

Aside from that, it's played out beautifully so far - I loved the first episode, here's hoping it stays true to the manga the rest of the series.

It was a thrilling first episode, although I believed they skipped some dialogues that would've given the characters more depth. I'm loving it still <3

The series is okay but it needs more of me and less of that dang Izaya! I wish that he would just get out of Ikebekuro. If he doesn't then I'll just keep chasing him until he leaves, or until I can finally kill him. >:(

So far, so good.
It is following the manga well.

They put a lot of emphasis on the panties and jiggling breasts.

Pretty awesome overall so far, love the story and the animation and sound are awesome as hell too. Only thing that bothers me is the constant focus on big bouncy boobs and panty flashes..

Plowed through the manga really fast up till chapter 18 or something (didn't want to spoil the ending) and I like how strictly it has followed the manga so far. You have the different shots and stuff that appear exactly like in the manga.

Loved the Crowning Moment of Awesome they had in Ep 5 where Takashi and Rei jumped the repair van with the bike and proceeded to beat down the zombies.

I think the little girl they save will be appearing in the next episode?

And girls don't complain when their boobies get mashed. WTH!

I love HotD but the crotch shots and bob jiggles are completely unnecessary. JIGGLING MAN PARTS TO EVEN THE PLAYING FIELD? Y or Y?

The original manga didn't have that, so a big N from me.

The manga had all the jiggles and it was totally fine. C'mon. Violence, zombies and tits. What kind of man are you if you don't enjoy that combination?

Speaking as a woman, I could live without the constant jiggling. I would be lying if I said I didn't enjoy it, however I'm somewhat forced to remember that logically - Jiggling like that hurts.

And the backpains the nurse would suffer... I pity her, so much.

I love this Anime for the pure fact that there are literally no other Zombie animes, it seems like an untapped genre,

It's exactly what I was expecting. I mean, there's literally no difference between the manga and anime so far - which is a good thing for me.

I'm loving it so far. Then again, I'll watch anything with Zombies in it - the Tits just enhance my enjoyment.

Just like the other motivational I saw, fanservice for good anime is gravy while for bad ones is a redeeming feature, so there's really nothing bad about it.

The anime is great...but the girls.....they kinda annoy me but they're ok

The manga is supposed to pick up again this month, I'm quite happy about that. The anime is peachy and all, but ending it at episode 12 is going to be a tough nut to swallow. Hopefully there'll be a S2.

i was in the same boat as Nelorzoul, but now im watching it. so far i dont really mind the ecchi, but i really wish they'd tone it down a bit..

You know I was thinking the same thing when I made my last post. I don't really like anime that overdoes it with the annoying ecchi, I mean granted that about 9million percent of anime has some degree of ecchi in it. Sure, I can overlook it for great anime, but sometimes an anime just doesn't cut it as far as the story goes or the general feel of the show - and if they have overboard ecchi syndrome then its usually a drop for me. Several anime come to mind from that last sentence of mine, haha.

It is, weird, but fun

Keeping true to that statement, I believe a degree of separation is necessary with the genres.

It was so strange...
I'm pretty sure it was fanservice, but oh hey, if that were the case, the whole anime would be fanservice, no?

The OVA, if I remember = smoking flowers, inhaling the hydrangeas (I think they were) by accident, getting stoned and then some 'stuff' in a cave. (I won't say exactly what it was)

HOTD is an awesome anime!! Awesome animation! Great English dub! And like you said epic violence. But there's one thing ... fan service. Way too much fan service! It just an epic fight scene then PANTY SHOT!! Then the whole scene is ruined. Still awesome though.

I never really liked the nudity to this anime.... It showed too much private parts, but overall I LOVED the story! :)

EPIC!!! I mostly like it, because I am really fond of ecchi and this one have a plot and heros with character. Also boobs were only an extra stuff, not the main stuff. But I have to admit that OVA was a pure fanservice and a simple beach episode

Love the story, hate the ecchi. I don't mind watching a perverted anime, but a lot of that crap was totally uncalled for in this story. It's like it was created for hormonal teenage boys with nothing better than to stare at panties and giggly boobs :/ Again, I really like the story, and I would finish the series, but as a straight female, that stuff is straight up pointless to me.

i loved this anime so much!!! I was looking for this thread because I recently made an AMV with this series and I'll like you people to see it.

Am I the only one who felt let down by this anime!? When I heard about it I was like "yea it sounds awesome!" then when I finished watching it I was like "WTF was that!?" and for two reasons.
One major reason was that they focused more on boobs than they did zombie killing; don't get me wrong I love tits but I mean come on I like to see blood shed and killing in my zombie flicks, and I was completely robed of that in this anime.
Second, I felt like some of the characters in the anime were... a bit immature I want to say (probably not right but I don't know what else to call it). Some of their judgment calls were rather childish; and that one girl who wanted to kill her teacher (the red headed one with the big tits) I felt that she was being especially unreasonable with the situation. I mean really, you want to ill him because of that? It was just so wrong.

My favorite character was the fat dude with the guns. I have to respect him due to his knowledge of guns; since im a member of the military and work with guns ALL the time I can understand his passion.

Girls, Guns and Cool Cars, what more can i guy want? i really enjoyed this series, i dont mind the ecchi overdose, super good animation during the action scenes and the sexual tension with Takashi and all the other girls was HAWT.
Anyways if you liked this series you should check out the manga Triage X. It was made by the same guys who made the manga of HOTD, so expect similar things, except the story line is different. So yeah.

The zombies always scare me, but other than that, it is good. I haven't gotten to reading the manga of it yet

Great series, too much fanservice. I mean, can't they tone it down? Just a bit? Its so annoying because the show itself is funny and violent, which is good. But everywhere you look its another boob or ass jiggle.

Can't we have good animation, zombies and gore without that much fanservice? I haven't seen a flatchested girl in that show yet, except for like, an old lady.

It is a sad day when in a series about zombies, boobs get more screentime than the zombies.

But other than that, I loved it. Great storyline, hilarious, great animation, and pretty realistic in terms of paranoia and panic. Like when the girl's dad got shot. The action scenes were awesome too. Even the english dub was well done! (Though Komuro is a fool if he ends up with Rei. She's so bitchy towards him. Though the psycho Samurai and Nurse aren't really the best alternatives, and his childhood friend is taken with Hirano.)

@76 i kinda disagree the nurse doesn't have that bad a personality though she could be more serious and well usefull also i would go with psycho cuz well shes uuummmmm she has a descent personality and isn't all that bitchy about things like Rei still great anime with suprisingly good voice actors plus i loved the plot to the show

The author and artist of HotD has gone on record publically stating that he enjoys two things: Breasts and Zombies. He made HotD specifically based around these two things.

So no, the fanservice will never be toned down. It's a legitimate factor that the guy making it wanted in there.

Some are fine, as it could be realistic; but a scene full of naked women groping each other in the bath? Or your boobs bouncing when you barely move? Not necessary.

Since he wanted all the boobs and shit, the only thing I can really complain about is that they could've settled it into the show better and made it more, fluid,(i think thats word I'm thinking of xD) animation and storyline wise.

As a side note, the only character in the entire series is Bushijima Saeko.

She is the only character. The others one exist for no other reason than to glorify her. In fact, everything not associated with Saeko is in fact terrible, terrible filler.

I feel as if you people do not properly appreciate psychotic love interests. They'll fucking die for you.

Just watched the first 2 episodes. I have to admit. I went into it thinking I could just sit there and watch. I ended up getting scared. Normally, nothing scares me that much. And yet, a part of me wanted to be there. Don't know why.

There has recently been an OVA episode released for this anime, which makes it a point at the end of the episode to say "Their battle will continue, so don't miss the next season."
