Making a Visual Novel (4)

Wasn't quite sure where to put this, but this seemed like the right place, correct me if i'm wrong please.

For a little while now, i've been trying to write a few novels, all of which were inspired by one anime or another, resulting in anime-like stories. It eventually dawned on me that perhaps my stories weren't suited to the traditional novel, and would benefit greatly from visual elements. Thus, the option to turn it into a visual novel was presented to me. It sounds like the best idea and quite the promising career if I can make it work.

However, my ideas fit more in line with a Kinetic Novel, where there are basically no choices to be made, and a linear story to follow. I read somewhere that making this kind of VN is pretty much suicide. A lot of people would suggest adding choices, but I can't really think of anywhere in my story that I could add choices that would have a big impact. There is a definitive story that I wish to tell and not really deviate from.

Can anyone help me figure out whether or not a Kinetic Novel would actually sell? Or perhaps give some advice maybe?

The main selling point of a kinetic novel in particular is the story, so I figure as long as the story is compelling you have a good base. Beyond that is the art, music, and overall presentation. I feel like as long as you have that, it will sell.

I think maybe you could try posting here if you haven't already and get some solid opinions(as my own are pretty shaky), http://lemmasoft.renai.us/forums/

Thanks for the reply. I appreciate it. I'll definitely look into that site.

In Visual Novels you see the story from the protagonist's perspective, in 1st person. Is your story told that way?

About choices or not... What you could do is that when the protagonist talks, use 2 choices that mean the same, but using diferent words (Example: How many bandits did you see? 1.F-four 2.There were 3 men and 1 women). The player will think this choice is relevant, when actually it isn't (or maybe changes the way other characters talk to you later? that's up to you).

One more thing... what tool are you going to use to make your Visual Novel?
