I'm posting this here and not in "Technology", so that most people read it.
I saw a lot of people recently joining the old Dollars chat on IRC. That's fine for me.
However: When you join the IRC chat, give people at least five minutes to answer! I see a lot of folks joining, saying "hi" and logging out immediately.
I really would like to answer you, but when you log out immediately I never get the chance.

In a few days there will be a program which automatically greets you and tells you to stay online at least for a few minutes.

how do you join the irc? I keep trying to join, but it always says that it couldn't connect to the server because I had an invalid login or it took too long to connect ...
did I miss something?

You can either click the link on the right side (#dollars-bbs@rizon.net), or use an external client.
IF you use an external client, the hostname is irc.rizon.net, and not just rizon.net.

Chipsa: Don't forget that this is international. We all have different timezones. I often see people coming online when it's 3:45am here, wondering why nobody answers. Just try again at a different time.
If you get the automatic message ("Welcome to the DOLLARS channel..."), you did everything right.

When you are in the channel, just say !TIME
Minion (which is a program, not a human) will then tell you the time in different parts of the world.
