This one is about the Footwork producer DJ Paypal. Currently residing in Berlin, DJ Paypal produces music completely anonymously and has often performed live with his face hidden.
He is a member of the Teklife crew. Founded by the late DJ Rashad. Footwork is a style of house/dance music that originated in Chicago in the early 1990s. The music style has evolved from the earlier, rapid rhythms of juke and ghetto house. It is known as sample-based music and its samples are frequently taken from House music, Hip Hop, R&B, rap, pop and other sources. This heavily sampled music is often produced around 160-170bpm.
DJ Paypal started spinning Footwork in 2009. He wasn't too interested in the music that other DJs were spinning in the scene at the time, stating that they would play nothing but bro-step and trap. He played parties throughout college and began producing in 2011. His 2015 debut album, Sold Out, was released on Brainfeeder to generally favorable reviews.
