Jazz is pretty amorphous, as far as terms or genres go.

That aside, I'm a sucker for swing a la
Glenn Miller, and cool jazz with and wihout lyrics - artists like
Chet Baker, and
Miles Davis. I find I tend to prefer the more melancholic sorts of jazz (though there are some
notable exceptions), like
Mal Waldron, some
Bill Evans, or the Lady herself - Billie Holliday.
