All of this info is from wiki:

The Doors was an American rock band formed in Los Angeles in 1965 and consisted of: vocalist Jim Morrison, keyboardist Ray Manzarek, guitarist Robby Krieger, and drummer John Densmore. The band got their name from the book The Doors of Perception by Adlous Huxley. They were one of the most controversial, influential, and unique rock acts of the 1960's due to Morrison's lyrics and onstage antics. Jim Morrison then died July 3rd, 1971 and the band remained a trio until 1973. In 1993, they were inducted into the Rock Hall of Fame and today, they still remain a very popular and influential band with many movies and books (the books, are mostly written about Jim though) about them.

Discography:
The Doors (1967)
Strange Days (1967)
Waiting For The Sun (1968)
The Soft Parade (1969)
Morrison Hotel (1970)
L.A. Woman (1971)
From here these two albums were recorded after Morrison's death. I like these also, but I just wonder how much better they would be with Morrison's vocals. In these two albums Manzarek and Krieger are singing lead.
Other Voices (1971)
Full Circle (1972)
This album was released five years after the Doors broke up. It is a recording of Jim Morrison's poetry sessions with music from the rest of the band playing in the background.
An American Prayer (1978)

They also have numerous live and compilation albums as well as bonus tracks to the albums above. Some of the urls I gave have those bonus tracks, but not all of them. Check those songs out too if you'd like.

Of the nine albums personally, the first album "The Doors" and the last album "An American Prayer" are my favorite. Everything else is great also, but those two just did it for me. They were both just so amazing. Both for different reasons though. "The Doors" was just musically breathtaking. I mean their was so many great songs in there. From start to finish it flows perfectly. "An American Prayer" is mostly just Jim Morrsion speaking, but his words are so powerful and they send a message.

If you don't want to start off with listening to an album then I recommend listening to one or all of these songs:
"Break On Through (To The Other Side)"
"Alabama Song (Whisky Bar)"
"The End"
"People Are Strange"
"Touch Me"
"Roadhouse Blues"
"Riders on the Storm"
and if you have 17 minutes to spare you can also check out "Celebration of the Lizard"

Nice thread. I'm not really a huge fan of these guys, but I remember borrowing a "Best of" compilation from my uncle a little while ago, so I've got a pretty good idea of what they sound like.

Since you were nice enough to link them, I'll check out their first few albums now.
