I listen to Japanese music so I'm guessing it's pretty obscure. My personal favourite is Nightmare (ナイトメア), who also did the first OP and ED of Death Note, as well as LM.C (OPs from Reborn!), Nothing's Carved in Stone (ED from Psycho-Pass), Ling Toshite Shigure (OP from Psycho-Pass, Tokyo Ghoul), GRANRODEO and OLDCODEX. Also SPYAIR.

I recommend Skytown Riot, The Canvas Waiting, and Between the Trees (they sort of border on the lines of Alternative rock but they are all very good in my opinion :3 )

Turbonegro, Agent Orange, Stance Punks, The Stalin, Death (the one with the album "For the Whole World to See"), Subhumans, MC5, and surprising to me, not many people have heard of They Might Be Giants. Really, they're most know for doing the theme song for Malcolm in the Middle and the Mickey Mouse Club House, so their sound varies quite a bit.
