A critically chosen song, here.

It was a dark and stormy night. Chris Simpson was snorting some serious rock with his buddies Scott McCarver, Jeremy Gomez, and Gabriel Wiley. They decided to make a band which would later be named Mineral.
...On the Wiki,
Mineral was a prominent mid-90s emo band originally from Houston, Texas, but soon relocated to Austin following their formation. All four members of Mineral were signed to Interscope Records on individual contracts. Its former members have since moved on to other musical projects including The Gloria Record, Pop Unknown, and Zookeeper.
Mineral's music is characterized by its iterated soft/loud structure, overlaid with melodic, off-key vocals and ethereal guitar-based instrumental bridges. Many of their songs adhere to the formulas and now ubiquitous stylistic conventions associated with "emo" pioneers Sunny Day Real Estate. Mineral's subtle balance between angst-ridden kinetics and wistful underpinnings, in conjunction with their intelligent lyrics, have heavily influenced many bands of the late 1990s and 2000s.

Why did this deserve a thread?
Mineral has been inspirational to bands in the same genre.

Great song you linked there. Been meaning to give these guys a listen for a while now, and they certainly didn't disappoint.

Also, if my lil' skim of the archives proves correct, this is the first time you've made a thread for the music board, yes? Great OP, and I look forward to more threads by you on here. My only advice is the "Why did this deserve a thread?" bit is unnecessary. We all make these threads to spread the word and connect with people who might already know about the artists mentioned, and that kind of goes without saying. Do a thread right (which you did) and there's no need to justify in advance a reason for creating it. /o/

So, finally after 17 years, there's going to be a 'reuniting'.
With all this new emo revival stuff going on, they and along with several other 90s emo bands could get back together.

I also found this band the other day and they sound exactly like them...
