this band is great, DeLonge has done a great job with this side-project. Angels & Airwaves is an space rock supergroup formed by Tom DeLonge from Blink 182, David Kennedy from Box Car Racer, Matt Watcher from 30 seconds to mars Ilan Rubin from Nine Inch Nails. Ever heard from them?

Hmmm. Okay, I'm going to say I like them. Love Part 1 was really good, everything else is kinda "meh as fuck," if that makes sense. So generic it's ridiculous. Most of their other albums are almost indistinguishable from each other.
With the possible exception of the aforementioned album, the only real reason to listen to this band is if you're a huge blink fan, just to hear Tom's voice. Knowing that this guy, who used to make jokes about his small, bent penis onstage in between singing about how he can't control is bladder is now trying to create the next Pink Floyd, you kinda just appreciate it in a weird way. It's like how some massive Metallica fans like St. Anger simply because they're both in love with the band, and simply fascinated by what they went through to create it.
But still...
Elements of an AVA song:
Drawn out, incredibly synth-y intro followed by fade in Edge/Gilmour-ripped guitar track with tons of delay and reverb.
Arpeggiated, delay addled riff that serves as the basis for the rest of the song
...or
Slow, picked powerchords with a fuckton of reverb, delay and the occasional phaser effect
Rehashed verse melody (seriously, Tom keeps using the same fucking melodies - it's fucking annoying)
Big chorus - if an AVA song has a shit chorus, it's a shit AVA song.
Sometimes brilliant, but often cheesy, pretentious and overly cryptic lyrics, abundant with weird similes and lame metaphor's ("I've got an ache like a cat thief's got an alarm, It makes a sound like a gunshot over" - Tom maintain's that the song's about helping a friend in need)
