Hey guys. Me and a group of friends are forming a band titled "THE wildErNess Downtown", and I just wanna know where to start. We've got all of the necessary instruments and vocalists, we just need to know how to get recognized. If any of you guys know how to do this, please let me know. That would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Start by performing at small things, such as parties or something depending on the genre of music you guys specialise in. Good luck.

Well, I'm in the process of pulling together a band as well. My own tips? Ask around at any venues you can find. Various restaurants and cafes (maybe even bars if you're into that thing) LOVE having live music. Likely won't be paid gigs, but as an upstart band first and foremost you wanna be heard, not paid.

I dunno if you guys are writing any originals yet, but know that for the gigging scene covers are a godsend. Just play a song that people will recognize and the crowd will love you. Obviously that doesn't mean to avoid originals altogether. Just, don't worry too much about being able to fill an hour with your own music. Just have fun with it.

The best advice I can give is this. DYI TILL YOU DIE.

Get booked on shows and at venues even if you dont make money out of it. Until you are at a point where you're big enough to make adequate amounts of money out of it, provide free music, play at friends parties, play for free etc.

Once you're recognised of course try make money out of selling music and merchendise, but the start is important to get RECOGNISED.

Also, write and record music BEFORE you tell people about the band/make a page or however you about things. Giving people a taste of what yu have to offer is important.
