Anoice is a Japanese modern classical/post-rock/ambient sextet consisting of multi-instrumentalists Takahiro Kido, Taku Tanioka, Yuki Murata, Utaka Fujiwara, Takahiro Matsue and Tadashi Yoshikawa. The group formed in 2004, has released 4 albums to date and has been featured on TV spots, in shortfilms, on multi-artist compilation albums, and via a variety of other outlets.

Anoice's music is best described as haunting, cold, beautiful, open-spaced, and sorrowful. They seem to effortlessly again and again strike a sweet spot on the line between despair and hope, combining both into the same notes. Some people will see it one way, others another. The band is sometimes classified as post-rock, but this can be a misleading term, because although that genre umbrella is huge, Anoice's music seldom works in a standard post-rock format. The stereotypical soft-crescendo-loud wall of noise dynamic isn't featured heavily throughout their music, which more often than not borders them on the genres of modern piano-led classical or soundscapey and strange ambient. Unlike a lot of post-rock acts, their releases aren't overbearingly long and tedious to get into. You can appreciate the beauty in these tracks the first time around and keep enjoying it many listens after. I suggest you give them a try. Hope you like it!
