2012 was a hard year for music here is my top 5 albums and why

1.papa roach-the connection, this band is just incredible.each album is like a step up from the last, more engertic, more powerful songs.and more emotion.

2.Mumford and sons-babel,I really love mumford and sons.Babel is a great one for the fans. But it's not as great as sigh no more.but it's still pretty dang close.

3. as I lay dying-awakened-this band is slowly becoming less cared for.they been crankin out albums last few years. this one is pretty good,2012 was not good on music.but this is one of the better albums.

4.Coheed and cambria-the aftermath:acesion-any coheed will know that this band makes incredible albums. This one seemed to go under everyone's radar.I really do think it's worthy of album of the year

5.soundgarden-king animal.-it's hard to find a classic rock band who make good albums in modern times. This album is amazing, and really proves old music can still be good and not die out.

anyway,what's you're top 5 and why?.

I can't say I've kept up with many 2012 releases, and I am in no way claiming these are the best albums of 2012, but thus far, they are my favorites from what I've heard.

5-Tenacious D's Rize of the Fenix
The D is back, baby. The kings of comedy rock return after a 6 year absence with more hilarious songs and skits, even going so far as to mock themselves throughout. Standard fanfare for Tenacious D fans, and the humor may not be everyone's thing, but if it is, it doesn't really get old.

4-Godspeed You! Black Emperor's 'Allelujah! Don't Bend! Ascend!
Godspeed's first LP after their 10 year hiatus, Allelujah showcases two tracks that had been in live circulation for years but only just now given studio recording, along with two drone pieces. Not Godspeed's best, but still better than a lot of other stuff out there.

3-Devianz's À Corps Interrompus
Devianz's sophomore release kicks the language barrier in the ass and scathes you with uncontrolled raw passion and emotion. These guys know what they're doing, and À Corps Interrompus showcases the fantastic musicianship and songwriting in one grand package. This was likely not on many people's radars, but an addicting and fun listen nonetheless.

2-Thrice's Anthology
Thrice is my favorite band, so upon news of their break-up/hiatus/uncertain ungrouping, I was pretty devastated. Enter Anthology, a 24-song, 2-disc collection of tracks live from their final tour. The emotion is here, the bliss is here, even though the guys are parting ways for the time being, they still perform and sound fantastic, truly one of the best live bands out there today. With songs spanning their entire 15 years and 7 albums, all fans were pleased, and I'm proud to say that they went out with a bang. Title track "Anthology" contains references to Thrice's discography and is already a fan favorite, and I believe the recording here (which ends the album) is also the last song the group ever performed live. It's seriously just so great, guys.

1-Periphery's Periphery II: This Time It's Personal

Looking back, I suppose that this year has been pretty good for music. It's kind of strange to admit that with all the bitching I do about how much music sucks now, but it's nice to know that great music still exists despite the current state of the industry. These are my top 5 albums of this year.

5. Tenacious D - Rize of the Fenix
On first listen, I honestly didn't like this album that much. I was in the wrong frame of mind for it, I thought it was going to be hilarious like the other 2, and I found it a little annoying to be just lying there at 4 am waiting for the punchline. No. It's not that kind of humour. The album however, is amazing musically, and if you allow yourself to listen to it for the music, you'll see just how ridiculously funny it can get. Jack and Kyle have really outdone themselves this time, the album is just great.

Burzum - Umskimptar
Just like Varg's last two, A lot of people hated this album, but honestly, I just can't see why. I thought that it was excellent. I suppose it is quite different from the classic Burzum sound, but it has a unique viking feel to it that even pure viking metal bands can't create. It's not quite black metal, but it's still amazing.

3.Between the Buried and Me - The Parrallax II: Future Sequence
The anticipated sequel to their 2011 EP The Parallax: Hypersleep Dialogues, covers little new ground. This doesn't matter, however, because their music is so eclectic and shifty that you could listen to the same song over and over again for hours on end and still discover something the next time you hear it. Also, it's a concept album, but it's hard to care about what the (somewhat incomprehensible)lyrics mean when the music is so mind-blowingly insane.

2. Devin Townsend - Epicloud
It's hard to explain why I like this album. It's his least crazy effort since Ki, and yet it's more insane that Deconstruction in some ways. Every song is just completely different, so it's hard to describe the album as a whole. Let's just say that "Epicloud" is an appropriate title.

1. Anathema - Weather Systems.
This album is amazing!!! The band says that the album is "...not background music for parties. The music is written to deeply move the listener." And it does. Really. It's so nice, it's one of those albums that makes you feel like you're floating. It's definitely my favourite album by Anathema, beating out their last album "We're Here Because We're Here". This album is the ultimate space out album. It's just amazing.
