Probably one of the few rappers who can rap about funny stuff (Thrift Shop) and serious stuff (Otherside).
Plus, none of his songs (at least seriously) are about "promoting" money, sex, drugs.

Look I am a huge hip hop fan and usually I love Macklemore...
I fucking hated Thrift Shop though.
Hate is a strong word, it was an alright song but so many of his other songs were better. Why didn't Fly or Otherside or even And We Danced get the same reception? both were a lot better than Thrift Shop. I'm loving that he finally made it big but it he did it by appealing to the Pop market, not the hip hop market. That is kind of the definition of selling out. 360 did the exact same thing, I can understand why they did it I just don't like it and feel betrayed.
