I was listening to Scars of Time a few days ago and got swept up in the wonderful celtic feel to the song - and Yasunori Mitsuda's work in general. So I thought to myself, perhaps he had other impressive albums?
What I unearthed was three fold - one of which will get its own thread momentarily. However, on Yasunori's end I discovered the group "millenial fair", a title given to the group of people who Yasunori got together to play these albums.
First off, was the album Myth, as shown above. It is a orchestral version of roughly 14 songs from the old game Xenogears. Instruments used include violin and piano. You'll forgive me, but as I don't often listen to orchestral music - I am not actually aware of what other instruments are traditionally in an orchestra.
The second is the album Creid, celtic for "believe", and is a very celtic/irish themed arrangement of several Xenogears sound tracks once again. Of particular note is the flute and sometimes vocal chanting that adds a beautiful feel to the songs like MELKABA and LAHAN.
Note: Yasunori Mitsuda did the soundtracks for Xenogears, Xenosaga Episode 1: Dur will zer macht, Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross most notably. He has since gone on to be a purely free lance musical composer.
