So I am entirely aware this site is a lot smaller than it used to be but. I want the opinion of people who are here more than me, is it still a good place to organize good people to do good things? or should I make a new site that is simply dollars adjacent? I think we all want a sense of community and we have the space to make it here. Can someone more knowledgeable than me lmk if the site is still safe to send people to organize anonymously? I unironically believe the dollars as a concept has real strength and can do real good, give me some info.

Idk if more knowledgeable applies to me, I haven't been here too long, but I think a community is as good as we make it - if we use the space to do good, it will be a good space. I have seen some occasional negativity and weirdness but for the most part the community that is still here is pretty great, I think we can make the Dollars work :)

To put it simply, the question isn't if it is safe, but rather if it is possible. I've been here watching for quite a while, and I've seen many attempts to organize in any meaningful way fall flat. The reasoning, I think, is that negative input quickly shuts down the initiative of many who actually want to make a difference. There are those here who wish to mingle and nothing more, and that is their right. The dollars, at least our dollars, has always been about willing participation. People will always take the path of least resistance, and in this case, that path is to do nothing. You will be scorned, insulted, and even hated for attempting to organize this place, that much is certain. What is needed is persistence. You need the drive to continue forward, despite what anyone will say about it. If you have that, then I say try to make a difference here. If you are unsure, then by all means make a dollars adjacent thing. Of course, take this with a grain of salt, as I wouldn't consider myself more knowledgeable by any means.

I really appreciate you guys for replying, i'm going to try to make a movement happen locally in my own weird way and if I can get some traction for it and start making things better I will post it here and show anyone coming to or revisiting the site that you can and should be trying. Especially when it gets hard or scary. After all, The world isn't as bad as it seems right?
