Quirky, goofy concept that might be a little topical and sarcastic. (7)

I'll be upfront. I don't particularly enjoy calls to action within online communities, especially when it's a.) a BBS, b.) for the online community to become more active online, and c.) LITERALLY THE DOLLARS COMMUNITY. I'm not saying that I discourage it but the whole concept of this community is to do as you please. We all have our own identities, goals, beliefs, etc. Just because you don't feel like it's active enough for YOU doesn't mean you have to tell other people to be more active. How about, rather, you post more and put energy into "reinvigorating" the community rather than telling others to reinvigorate it? Lead with your actions rather than you words. Words are effective, but actions go a lot further. Feel free to hit me back with a counter. I'll do my best to respond.

Cheers.

I can't believe I've done this. I've become what I so disliked. Woe be me.

I don't think you get that those who did choose to speak out had done so with good reason.
If you haven't seen, people did agree that they missed activity, but many were waiting for someone else to say it.
Action WAS taken by the people who wanted the site back up and running themselves. By asking others to start posting again, they gave their share of effort for getting us all back on track. Speaking out to a site with so many users, and choosing to stand ground instead of going with the flow of people takes some guts--give these people more credit.
Moreover, as you said, we're free to do basically whatever we want on here. If someone wants to say that they want an active community again, they can say it. As such, if someone else wants to go on with a dying website, they can simply ignore the calling.
Those words you spoke about reflected an action, and action was taken with those words.

I'll give you props too, though. Posting this means that you're either stupid, or confident. I look forward to your reply.

Firstly first, I gotta say this thread is literally just a remake of TC's "Let's Keep The Dollars Alive" thread with less sugarcoating, in there we agree at least.

TC's thread is frequently getting new responses, all of them were positive, yet I'm still (reiterating this, again) baffled by the amount of people who actually tried to reply existing threads for even at least once a day.

In case you guys were THAT dense, Perceptions of Reality thread bumped as my attempt to start a discussion didn't receive any response, that thread about online drama bumped once and no one is interested in the topic also (although I'm also at fault since I contributed to burying it in the archive), the recently made thread about Myanmar's coup also didn't get any response even though its one of the most overarching news around the globe as of right now.

In the most literal way I could possibly interpret from Pure's post, no one cares anymore if this site is dying because they simply didn't bother chiming-in to any of the existing discussion threads on the site.

This place holds a special place in my heart, of course I'd want to keep it alive no matter what. But even with so much dedication and actual effort, a community can't be sustained by only one member.

If you're going to tell me I'm being rude and that its shutting off other members or even scaring them from actually replying, I merely told you what really happened here and nothing more. If you're not even going to try disproving my statement, that's the same as admitting defeat. It will be your loss, and it will also be my loss since I believed in you all to contribute and help restoring the site's soul.

I'd continue on and on about this, but that would mean derailing this thread's topic and I wouldn't want that so I'll stop here. Feel free to start engaging with other members in the existing discussion threads or made your own, as long as it fits the board's description that is. Or better yet, suggest a better approach than what I proposed. I'll be lurking

I'm sorry to hear that, but I can't control other members. I did see your thread, but if I'm being honest, I did't know how to reply. Same with the other one you're talking about. I've read the article, but I had no idea what I should do. I don't own a twitter, or really social media in general. Furthermore, I am too young to take action for myself.
You could also assume that people saw it and just never replied because they didn't know how. That doesn't mean that I flat-out just didn't feel bothered, I'm just saying that we're free to do whatever with what's on the site.

As said, though, you're free to think and do whatever you want here, so I'm not mad or anything. I've seen you reply on other threads, and I think that alone makes me kinda happy(?). I can tell you don't want the place to die either.

God, I'm jumping all over the place, haha. I'm still only half awake, so apologies.

I've noticed other members posting more often too, so I'd say that it was still good to voice the want. I don't think there's any way that a call for action like that could ever be negative. It either does good, or melts away, there was nothing wrong with posting.

I would say more, but after thinking for a while, I realised that I only wanted to disagree because I don't want to believe this place is pretty much just a lost cause. I wanted to disagree, only because I believed it to be a good choice. I'm sorry I couldn't provide any good reasons as to why, I'd just like to agree to disagree.

I agree with Water. I don't have a reason, I just like want this community to last...

The first rule of the fight club is, you don't talk about the fight club.

To sustain a community is to just let the day goes on, you do not talk about it dying or ask how to keep it afloat, you just reply and you just discuss whatever is happening on the site or something happening around you or even around the world, anything except the place being not as active as you want it to be.

Not like its a very hard thing to do, you just post your thoughts regarding it. Not like anyone outside the country could help with overthrowing the coup anyways. You're hoping for the coup to succeed? Radical, you're probably gonna get some squinting eyes for that but okay. You want the civilian supporters to hijack the militant's vehicle and fight back against the coup? Sounds cool. There's that aerobic girl video with Myanmar's military passing in the background, gib proov or fake.

There are many ways to respond to an existing topic, but starting a new topic is difficult as you've said above. To be in a community is to give-and-receive (information) in return, its about time you also give back and not just stay on the receiving end.

I don't know, try Animation board, Attack on Titan is currently airing. Films board, Monke vs Lizard trailer absolutely raised the hype train. Music board, I don't know much about music trends apart from Hololive's 9 new single following up to their Bloom concert, but its what it's. Random board, where the folks got OCDs and trying to keep the board organized (even if its literally called Random) by talking to each other casually only on RTT and perhaps waste some of their time on the minigames thread.

Again, if you're discouraged to post anything because of this, its our loss. We're ultimately not combating each other, the real enemy is the unfortunate situation we're currently inhabiting and no one can be blamed for that.

Something I quoted from one of our member Naga:
"I've been part of a few dying internet communities and I gotta say the real final nail in the coffin is when conversations just become about the site and the community dying, instead of whatever they talked about before."

Set that spirit of discussion aflame soldiers!
