The title says it all, but I am still skeptical about time travels, and I mostly think that its true, why? Here, so Titor said he came from 2036, right, lets see, from now, 2019, the machines and technology might have gone too far from the one today which makes time traveling and all that things possible, say, do you know phone calls? Well, I guess it WOULD be from where the time traveling on 2036 starts, if it is possible to talk from far away using a small device, then time travel should also be possible, right? Please give me your opinion

So time travel has a lot to do with space-time warping, gravity, velocity(speed but directional) and heavy sciency stuff. I doubt you know these, cause if you did, you'd not be asking this question, But if interested, just look up "Time Dilation" explanation.

Basically its actually possible to go to the future, but going to the past is quite literally impossible. Because going to the future requires you to travel to a very high speed (90-95% of Light speed (Light travels at about 300000000 metre per second). To go to the past, you require to go past the speed of light. According to Einstein's "special theory of relativity" (the second and more complex one) its not possible. But everyday we learn old theories and laws being re-done. But yes. We can DEFINITELY travel to the future, "THEORETICALLY" because, in order to do so, properly, say to travel to 10 years into the future, you'd need immense fuel and a vehicle that can pull of and survive such high speed.

Define time travel, physical time travel or consciousness?

physical time travel is where there can be two or more physical body of yourself in one point of time.
consciousness is where only your consciousness travels back in time. Let us say You forgot your gf birthday last Sep23 and decided to go back in time waking up on Sep23 just as how you woke up on that day

physical time travel conflicts with law of conservation, the amount of total matter is constant. You can't create something out of nothing you just manipulate is to another form


Which leaves you consciousness time travel (sample anime reference Erased)however, in storing memories i believe that is takes physical change/space just like hard drives. Let us say you learned french in 2020, the neurons that connected with each other in your French language education in 2020 may not be connected to each other in 2019 where you haven't learned French. Physical changes are out of question.

So we can say that you can go back in time but without the gain of future memories. Pretend You got dumped in 2020 by your 2019 gf. If you return back to 2019 in the goal to change the future (being dumped), you SHOULD lose the memory of being dumped as the neurons regarding the dumping event are not connected.

If so, losing the future memory means losing your objective which is why you returned back in time, because of that objective which you no longer remember. So what is the point is you can't change what you wanted because you forgot. Though time travel may not be applicable in returning in the past it may still be applicable in going to future. Just like waking up from a coma, you have no memory of years passed but everything changed and the question of physical change can be answered that there is no physical change. No new connection between neurons are formed as there is no new learning or memory as it feels like coma.

Though the question is which future. If we are to make a history and future model of this realm, it is like a tree diagram where any branches will merge into one linear representation after its time passes. Think of WWII, during the year of WWII there are two possible outcome either WWII will occur as written in today's history or not. But viewing it from 2019, there is in no doubt that WWII occurred. so if you are form the era of the threat of WWII and traveled earlier in time which future will you reach, the one with history of WWII or the on with history of NO WWII. There is no certainty or anyway you can know as you don't have any information or memory in between the travel, just as i said a coma concept.As all futures are true unless is decided in a certain point in time if it will continue to exist or not, just as all theories are true unless a decisive event occurred and proved everything else to be wrong

Next question is how will you travel? through a time machine in an elevator like concept where you get in from 2019 and get out to 2020? As i said physical changes are out of the question, so time jump or any physical device that you can bring with you is out of the question as well. We can let say have a device that can transport your consciousness to some point in time lets say like fluctlight concept of SAO Alicization, but it will be a one way ride depending on the level of technology of the time to go. If 2020 such device exist and you returned to 2019, you can no longer travel from 2019 as such technology DNE YET. If it is to the future, we all think that the future is way more advanced and something like utopia but what if the future is a fucked up place like Dr.Stone where time travel technology is lost.

Since the most possible is time travel by consciousness, then if you travel from 2020 to 2019; the you in 2019, is where the 2020consciousness will downgrade sync to 2019consciousness due to deleted and ommitted memories; but how about your physical body in 2020? it will be just an empty shell? Just like installing a variety of series of OS to which best fit your old phone but is a CUT and paste file not copy and paste.

Even if time travel was possible, I wouldn´t mess around with it, like E4A5 said, you would lose your memories. And also, let´s say for example, you traveled to the future, future you tells you the name of your long lost brother, but the only way he/ future you found that out is by time traveling when he was your age, so when you think you actually changed some major event in time perhaps you are the one who caused that event in the first place.

Seriously, just go play Steins;Gate. it will trump any discussion to be had here.
