Project N.U. is the latest edition of the dot hack series to be produced by CyberConnect2, producer of most of the recent Naruto video games. It was announced at the Tokyo Game Show.
Project N.U. - Maiden of Silver Tears will be the first game in the series for the fans to experience.
The game will be a free-to-play RPG running on Android and iOS.

Here’s what New World is about, according to the official website:
“You’ve found me.”
The main character lives in the recovering town of “Mac Anu” and meets a girl with white-silver eyes in the darkness. The girl’s voice awakens a hidden secret in this world — a forbidden power within the main character.
The world is yours, the world has you. This is the new world, in this world, there is another you.

The game is set for release in Japan some time this year. It is unknown if a Western release is planned or in the works.
From what I saw of the website, the new game looks like it will take place in The World: Force Era, where the recent .hack movie Beyond The World takes place. The game also seems to feature characters (such as Kokore) from the Guilty Dragon game, another dot hack mobile game released for smartphones in 2013.
The game is likely to feature micro-transactions for in-game items, and it'll be interesting to see how Bandai and CyberConnect2 manages the new combat systems. I personally hope for a decent game, and look forward to the release. While it still won't be "The World" we all hope for, it still is a new official dot hack game, and all we can really hope for is for it to do better than LINK did.
