Get In The Van is a memoir/journal collection by Henry Rollins from 1981 to 1986. In this time he was the frontman of Black Flag and it spans from just before he was asked to join the band till the break up. It includes tours around the states, the UK and Europe, almost every performance was written in a diary Rollins kept.

There are some incredible stories in there, my favourite being where Rollins and the bands roadie 'Mugger' were putting flyers up around Hollywood (I think it was). They used a mixture of cheap glue, water and flour to stick these flyers up everywhere and they would both get covered in the stuff. No one would mess with them because they looked so crazy, sunburnt, no hait and covered in this thick glue. The show they put flyers up for days and days on end got shut down in about 20 minutes.

Rollins' hate for 'pigs' begins in his time with Black Flag , they were always shutting down shows to 'avoid riots' that the pigs caused...

There is also an audiobook version of it and it won a Grammy for 'Best Spoken Word Album' 1995....Henry would have LOVED that...

It isn't just a book for Punk/Hardcore Punk fans or music fans all together, I think most audiences would enjoy the book. All in all a very interesting book.
