Before getting on the dark web, use a vpn, tails linux or both. Once you’ve got those up and running, use TOR to get on the dark web. After that just don’t be stupid.

To add to what >>2 said, make sure you run tails Linux of a usb (duh) and if you have one lying around try to do it on an old laptop you can pull the drive from. make sure you have a vpn, TOR network isn’t secure these days, I recommend mullvad as it’s anon af and last I checked they had a lot of different payment methods for those in all positions

If your computer has any kind of camera or microphone, cover the camera and unplug the mic, just to be safe. If anyone stars messaging you, DO NOT RESPOND. Stay safe!

The easiest way to use TOR is downloading the "TOR Browser" (just google that one).

However, everything the other's said still applies. In the dark web, it's never wrong to be somewhat paranoid. When it comes to security, the track record of Microsoft Windows has a lot of bumps, so running Linux off a CD or a thumbdrive is a good idea.
