I wonder..... (5)

As someone who used to run nets w big boats i'm quite intrigued in this matter.
Far starters with a good ole visit to the trusty, https://check-host.net/ , and a little search of the domain I see that the box that host this site is located in texas with the "ISP" of "WEBSITEWELCOME.COM". and with a simple google search of "website welcome" i find https://www.website-welcome.com/ which is a domain seller site. i then got curious and went to the good ole https://whatismyipaddress.com/ and inserted the domain ip as like so https://whatismyipaddress.com/ip/xxx.xxx.xx.xxx (not including IP due to not knowing if their is some TOS that i have not read or bothered to look for and read) and then the results that came back were the same ISP except this time an ORG was tied to the IP "CyrusOne LLC" with a google search i came across https://cyrusone.com/ which in short is a data center company. My curiosity of this matter is in short i wonder how much traffic would have to be pumped into this site with the L4 attack method to down it not with L7 as L7 just drops the site the back bone box hosting the site still stays alive and active with L7 attacks im quite curious if this site is like PayPal which can only be brought down by L7 due if it were to being taken offline with a L4 attack it only would be brought down in one area but would not go down because of backup boxes for that reason in each region that the site has a presence in. I believe Amazon has something similar but if what someone told me is true is that if you knock all of Amazons boxes off simultaneously in all different regions included all backup box IP's the amazon and all other domains like .ca etc will go down as well. as i was told paypals backup boxes are to plentiful to even try that with however that person did tell me that in order to do that to amazon you would have to be packin sum serious power on your net. SO IN RETURN my wonders are how much traffic can this site hold with a L4 based attack? If over 500gbps-1tbps does it have backup boxes that will kick in as soon as you send the command? Or is it just a low end hosting service that really would go down if you just push it over?

To make it clear i have no intention of sending a ddos attack to this website or anything associated with it. I'm just curious if any ever has sent one before and sees this or would like to enlighten me in any way possibly. All in All, curiosity kills the cat xD

This site cannot withstand much, if any kind of DoS attack. It has been proven in practice with spam. The site goes down almost immediately.

The data centers may have all that redundancy, but it is unlikely they will use it to protect some no-name personal user, like this site. They will see the traffic is very high to the site and then just rate limit it. Then, the site will become inaccessible to normal users as it gets bogged down.

Additionally, it has been shown that the other sites hosted on this same box are affected when this site is spammed. This further confirms my theory that the data center really doesn't care.

>>2 Seems like a very reasonable and logical theory. Appreciate the input, Cheers

>>4 The data centers also probably offer increasing protection (allowing some protection) for higher rates. It would be a lucrative business, especially considering they are paying for something they'll likely only use once or twice depending on how high profile they are.

>>3 Hopefully this isn't my peak!
