I like Asus quite a bit for mobos and graphics cards. Msi has some good mobos too. Corsair has some good ram and psu's. I prefer intel over amd, but it's mainly preference.

Make sure to get a good pay so nothing is underpowered, since components overheat when underpowered.

I dont like evga graphics cards as I had one give out right when the warranty expired and when googling a lot of others had the same problem. I didn't even OC the card.

I overclocked all my asus cards and they are still going strong.

Nvidia vs amd cards is mainly preference too, but recently nvidia seems to have more vram and slightly faster.

Oh for gaming a faster cpu is better than more cores. A 4 core is more than adequate for gaming. I have a 8 core, just cause the skylake cpu's and mobos were cheaper. But if you plan to do a lot of multimedia or number intense apps more cores is better.

If you plan on using 3+ pcie slots I'd shy away from skylake, since there isn't many pcie lanes and it would choke your graphics card(s).
