I think the point hear is simply to keep data mining bots away, although the pass code doesn't stop people it could make it a little harder for a simple touch and go virus to grab email data, that being said a more complex one or an actual person could still get in regardless of passcodes or not. I think it would be a good idea honestly, although it could be more work than worth. Also I would like to ad, that I support amore and ellena, I respect findmuck and chronos's opinions though, they do pose good points, although I gravitate to Ellena's post earlyer of keeping this site a nice place.
