Windows 10. Has anyone else noticed a pattern with Windows? Every two OS's is a good one. Windows 7 was good, Windows 8 was terrible, Windows 10 is good. I digress. Windows 10 is a very much needed overhaul on Windows 8. Personally, I love it. It's easier to use that Windows 7 in my opinion and it brought back the start menu and added functionality that Windows 8 lacked. Making it free for all 7 and 8 users was an incredible decision by Microsoft. Kudos to them for it.
>>1 If you don't like the apps, then uninstall them; also, your post reads like you're critiquing OSX?
As for things that Windows 10 does wrong? It's slow at times and Internet Explorer still exists. Edge is barely an upgrade from IE. Cortana doesn't always react to your voice, even if you train her, and at times will open randomly. A host of apps that don't need to exist exist, such as a new Windows music app that doesn't replace Media Player but is instead intended to function like iTunes. The Settings app makes it occasionally hard to find settings, but honestly, in this day and age, who doesn't use Control Panel anyway, amirite? If you have a touchscreen, it is possible for drivers to fail (this happened to my sister's computer, but is fixable simply by restarting the laptop or tablet).
As for what it does right? It brought back the Windows button. Cortana adds additional functionality, gets to know your preferences, and will suggest restaurants and places to go based on those preferences. OneNote is seamlessly added to an Action Centre in the corner of the Taskbar. With one click, the Action Centre is open, and with a second, an new note in OneNote is open and ready for a grocery list, something to remember, or anything you need to write down. A News app is well done with a great UI and will refresh periodically, showing articles based on the preferences you selected when you set up the app and showing them in the order you ranked those preferences as; for instance, football related articles may be at number five for myself, local news at four, with fashion at number three and politics and world related news at one and two, respectively. The News app will then show political articles at the top, with world news following, then fashion, then local news and football. Windows 10 has an easy to use start menu, and easy to use settings menus. Virtual desktops are nice.
Overall, I'd give Windows 10 a 9/10.
