I'm not the brightest person, but I'd like to know how to hack into things...nothing illegal of course, just that google isn't much help with teaching people how to hack into things so I'd like someone to explain it to me.

I am just going to post all needed information in this thread.
First of all you need to change your expectations, you aren't about to hack Facebook, it has literally millions of users, and literally thousands of people working to insure you cannot hack it. If you want to make money doing something like robbing a bank, you are better off sending Spam Emails asking for money as a Nigerian Prince, in this case you should focus on getting an English Degree.
Finally, if you want to do this to Harm a competitor's business, I would advise against doing that, imagine if they posted on something such as Anonymous, trying to get even a few experienced crackers(and yes, this is the more appropriate term, a hacker is essentially anyone that uses something in a way it isn't meant to be used, not exclusively electronics), then that could essentially put your business out of business by finding out where you work, or make you jobless simply due to the amount of people that unpersonally hate specifically you. Also imagine if they got it wrong, could you live with condemning someone to something like that, especially a close friend or family? Now, could you live with being revealed to be the actual cracker after seeing what they experienced?
Now then, I can give you some advice as to where and how to learn. There is a vocation called a "White-Hat Hacker", in which involves finding security errors in a website, not exploiting them, reporting them and how you found them, and receiving money in return. In fact, this can essentially be a freelancing job with the larger websites such as the aforementioned Facebook, you can get some pretty large cash from finding just a few errors.
Anyways, there is HackThisSite, which has hacking exercises, pretty nice after you have some Coding Knowledge. To gain that Coding Knowledge, I would recommend completing every main Language Course on Codecademy, Programmr, and Sololearn, and then start on a few Udemy Courses.
www.hackthissite.org
https://www.codecademy.com/
http://programmr.com/
http://www.sololearn.com/
https://www.udemy.com/
After you have done the prepping in CodeCademy, Programmr, and Sololearn, you will probably not want to hack as much, so I am going to give you a few examples of how you could utilize your skills much better.
1. You could become a Web Developer, take a course on Udemy for Web Development and practice creating a couple websites on Notepad, you can also go to a few local businesses and offer to build them a website for free, this would be some good real world experience and would go great in a Portfolio for later jobs. You would start charging money for local businesses, and then choose to either become a Freelancer or work Full-Time as a Web Developer, and you won't even need to get a real college degree, and then work your way up into better jobs.
2. You could learn a Game Engine and make Games, for example Unity uses C#, Unreal Engine uses C++. I would recommend using Unity to learn for your first game Engine, it is what I am doing, it also has great documentation.
3. You could start developing Apps and become a Mobile App Developer, hopefully eventually working for another company if none of your apps particularly take off.
4. Finally, if you are still interested in White-Hat Hacking, then you can try simply doing that, making enough money to pay the bills and buy some frivolous stuff, it isn't a way I would enjoy my life, but there are many people that do exactly that. Unfortunately, you will have to freelance until you get a degree, because I think that companies won't offer you a job as a Software Engineer without a actual Software Engineering degree, there probably isn't much career development from this, although I don't know much.

In any case, I am just somebody with a lot of time on their hands, I could become an actual Web Developer rather easily if I just focused, and I am learning Unity, but the main reason I know all of this is because I was bored, wanted to succeed in something, and started working towards a goal. Without exception, I haven't found something I haven't gotten bored of, that is the downside of Obsessing about Obsessions.
If you actually do become a Web or Game Developer or Cracker, that is a higher degree of skill than I currently have, I just know the path.

1. Get Kali Linux
2. Send Deauth packets to your wifi targets and knock them offline.

Woo... You're a skiddy noobie hack3r...

After that you may want to do this:
3. Capture handshake and crack keys.
4. Connect to wifi.

Woo! You're still a noob...

No, I have literally no experience hacking, much of this information could be inaccurate, as I said, "If you actually do become a Web or Game Developer or Cracker, that is a higher degree of skill than I currently have, I just know the path".
And also that bit about Cracking and Hacking is mainly just semantics, to be honest, it was quite a bit arrogant for me of all people to be saying that.
