Radio Network (7)

Hello all! I've been thinking about how awesome this community is, and how we're all connected by common interest and this website, and that gave me a cool notion. Perhaps if we were to build a radio network to talk to fellow Dollars all over the world... In real time! Say we were to get (maybe only a few of us need it) our technician/operator licenses to broadcast on CB frequencies, we could update each other or discuss things... And anyone could tune in! So yeah, just a passing thought.

You won't need a CB but an Amateur radio license for that purpose.
I'm considering to get one, but I'll be busy with school until June.

I'm OK with this idea.

Can you find an Amateur radio club near your place ? What is your school level ? (I'm in 2nd year of engineering)

I've no formal vocational training, I'm just a junior in high school. However, I know exactly where to find such a club (as my uncle runs it). I do intend on going into the engineering field when I reach college, so this would be a great project to work on until then. Perhaps if we could pass the data through a bit of software to rearrange it, scramble it so to speak, then transmit, then anyone receiving could pass the signal through the same software and understand what was said.

You don't need softwares to use Analog transmission. The hardware is sufficient.

Do you know what a capacitor is ? And how to create filters ?
If you need, I can teach you this piece of electricity.

You want to use Digital links ?
I don't really know how they work, but they seem more difficult than Analog ones to begin.

I'm familiar with capacitors and how they function, at least on a basic level, but I can't say the same with filters. When I talked about the computer and associated software being included in the transmission setup, I meant it along the lines of keeping others from listening in, assuming it's a sensitive topic being transmitted. But I would appreciate any instruction you could give me. My email is s2keddic.dollars@gmail.com or if you want to leave any teaching here for others to see, that'd be cool too.

It's easier with software. Ableton Live's podcast templates are good for this kind of thing.
