Okay, so I have this friend and he told me that his sisters boyfriend ordered a laptop, a dell XPS from the dell web site and was delivered by UPS. The boyfriend, called UPS saying that he never got the laptop but he really did, so I was told that UPS paid for another and delivered it. now they have 2. my friend is worried if he turns on the laptop they will trace the ip address and he would get in trouble, does anyone know what could possible happen?

I'm not 100% sure on this, but I think they can only trace if the IP address is being used, not on what device and how many.

Unlike Apple, Dell doesn't use a lost items remote tracking technology.

But UPS might give a hard time to the employee who delivered the parcel.
