If you're on a budget, find an old laptop in a cupboard and install a good Linux distribution on it.

They are too web-based, and you shouldn't rely on the Internet connection in universities.

Grrr recaptcha grinds my gears, I've had to write my msg twice.

For $350 you aren't going to get much. Best yo can hope for is a last gen i3 or i5 with decent integrated graphics.

Check out this one. It's about the best you'll find.

Really none in your family has an old laptop on which you could install Linux ?

There's no cost at doing this. And that could be better, since for 300$ you won't find any hard-wearing machine nor sustainable buying.

@Hiroki
We used to have an Alienware M17x. We didn't buy it. It was just given. The charger and battery is really messed up and I think the insides are messed up too.

Graphics for graphic designer/illustrator student I guess.
I'm not really good at picking out specs or stuff.

Dell Latitude 3340. Shitty little thing that is issued by our school. Can't be more than 100 bucks.
