I am currently having trouble fixing a mid 2012 11" Macbook Air for a client. The symptoms are as follows. Refuses to boot, Is Charging properly, Black screen only,No boot chime, Fan spins up but no other signs of life. I have Reset the SMC, and attempted to reset the PRAM. I doubt the PRAM reset worked.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Is the hard drive spinning up at all? if not then it probably needs a hard drive.

Also, try booting from an external media, just go burn a bootable usb with ubuntu or something on it with RUFUS, try booting that, if that works then it is almost definitely the hard drive. If you need any more help you can contact me via email at zer0cool.dollars@gmail.com.

It's a macbook air. So it uses an SSD not a hard drive. Though I will try to boot from usb.

You're right that's my fault you wouldn't be able to hear the SSD spin up but let me know if booting from USB works.

No dice on the USB boot. It's looking like a dead CPU or a damage motherboard.

Bummer, i'm sorry to hear that, it could be that the screen is dead but more likely it is an internal component. Sorry about you're luck on that.

Did you try turning it off and on again?
