Hacking Facebook (9)

So since everyone is talking about hacking/cracking, I'm gonna press into the issue of cracking facebook pass. I think this is also the reason most people are wanting to be hackers/crackers in most occasions.

But first, I'm gonna tell you the difference of Hacking and Cracking. From the many years users has still this misconception about the definition of hacking. Hacking to tell you, is not the exploitation or using force to gain unauthorized access to computer systems such as decrypting passwords or bypassing a copy-protection scheme, that is cracking. Well, I admit that hacking is pretty much the same concept as cracking, they differ on the Objective. While cracking is the tampering of the system's core for malicious reasons, Hacking is the tampering of the system's core for the betterment of the system's such as fixing bugs or adding more features. If you want decrypt facebook passwords for your own personal reasons, that is facebook cracking not hacking.

Okay back to the topic, ahem. Well first, many thought that facebook cracking is like, breaching the facebook servers, getting hashes and caches, and decrypting the many codes and stuff just to get facebook passwords. But unfortunately, its not, breaching to this security is pretty much like digging you're own grave. Facebook has been breached countless of times that it had hardened its security to the limit, even offering to pay those individuals who have successfully breached their security. If you think that those websites that'll pop when google searching for facebook hacking is legitimate, Please. I would rather play Elder Scrolls V with no armour, no potions.

Ok, But you really need to steal passes!

here's the things you can do:

Phishing : use of Fake Login Pages, also known as spoofed or phishing pages. These fake login pages resemble the original login pages of sites like Yahoo, Gmail, etc. The victim is fooled to believe the fake facebook page to be the real one and enter his/her password. But once the user attempts to login through these pages, his/her facebook login details are stolen away.

Keylogging : locally or remotely install a keylogger application on the victim's computer. It records the keystrokes into a log file and then you can use these logs to get required Facebook, GMail, etc password.

Primary email address hack / Reset : simply ask Facebook to send password reset email to the victim's primary email address - of course if this email account is already compromised : reset page. (this one dead)

Social engineering : method of retrieving password or answer of security question simply be quering with the victim. You have to be careful while using this as victim must not be aware of your intention. Just ask him cautiously using your logic.

Cookie Stealing / Session Hijacking : Google it. See for example FireSheep

For my part, I used the phishing method and social engineering to get the password of my crush. I created a fake facebook page with my little knowledge of PHP and Html webpage designing and uploaded it on a free web hosting site and coded them to phish out facebook passes. I chatted with her, and said to try out my website, I explained it to her that it was kind of a gateway to facebook that had a dark template (she was convinced though). But when she tried to log in, it would just display: Can't connect to server. She thought that it was broke and told me about it. But what had really happen when that message popped up is that all that she inputted in the text-box had been recorded. (I'm not gonna tell you what I found out)

But this method is tricky to use now. Facebook has been updated to spot phishing pages and shut down your facebook account if your spotted. Worse case scenario is that your gonna be sued by the one you're trying to phish if they somehow find out or notified.

But I completely discourage you to crack someones password. I'm just showing you the ropes as to how they actually do it and may protect yourself from this. And please do not carelessly click links and inputting your real account for facebook log-in pop-ups that happens when you are redirected.

>>4 It not necessarily illegal. Its just illegal to break into restricted or private networks without permission. If you're just doing network/security testing with the permission of the owner its fine.

>>4 >>5 Hacking is good but cracking is illegal... just look at the softwares you're downloading at piratebay. All of them are cracked and can run without paying for it. If you somehow download a game or another software which contain a cracked .exe and can play without purchasing it, you're already illegally doing something.

>>8 True but that's mostly small fry stuff. Unless you're selling the cracked program, or it's a high profile piece of software, you probably wont be prosecuted or caught.
