um... I just found the IP address to this site. What is the IP address use to do? Also, is this information private or important?

What do you mean by "IP Adress to this site?".

I'm just gonna guess you mean the Server's IP.
It's not private, in fact, you use it all the time.
The IP Adress associated to the server of a website can be found quite easily, on windows, you only have to open up cmd.exe and type in 'ping ********.com' and it'll display the IP.
If you take the result, 192.185.63.127, and enter it into your browser, you will get to reltair (the admin)'s site.

There might be an error in there, but that's basically it ;)

Ip adress is, at it is stated, the Internet Protocol adress of the site. It is required to have one since having no adress means that you can't contact someone.
However, since remembering raw numbers is a pain in the ass, we also have domain names (dollars-bbs.org, google.com, you name it) that is resolved by a machine called a DNS.

You just discovered the underneath layer of the Internet, less user-friendly and more system-related.

Don't mess with it though.. we don't know when will the admin will make the updates on the sites. I bet he'll be pissed off once he knew that someone laid a finger on this precious site that he got for free

step 1: Open Cmd (Command Prompt)

Mtd1: ping www.dollars-bbs.org
Mtd2: nslookup www.dollars-bbs.org

You should get the IP of the website 192.185.63.127

IP address are not only for your house networks.
IP adress:
- websites
- your home router
-------------------------------------
For websites:

It is not feasible to remember IP addresses to visit a website.
Imagine typing in 74.125.68.105 to the url each time you want to visit google.com
'google.com' is a domain which are much easier to remember than digits.
To resolve this, we use the Domain Name System (DNS) that translate the domain we typed into the url into the IP address to access the web easily for us.
------------------------------------------------------------
For home router:
There are public and private IP addresses.

Public IP addresses are addresses that your router use to connect to the world. (This address is unique to your house)

Private IP addresses are addresses that connect your house devices to your router (not to the world). It is local.
For example, the address you see 192.168.1.1 may be for your laptop and 192.168.1.2 may be for your mobile phone. You may go to your neighbours house and realised that their laptop showed the same 192.168.1.1 ! Don't freak out because remember that it is the public IP that is unique not your private IP.

World <--Public IP---- Router <--Private IP 1-- Computer
<--Private IP 2-- Mobile Phone
<--another Private IP-- . . .

Why do this? There is simply not enough address to uniquely assign to every device in the world and also for websites too.

The problem is solve by only assigning unique address to your public IP to your router. Your router can then branch out and assign its own private IP address to connect to your devices.

I'd like to precise that the IP address is ONE identification of a device. Networks such as Wifi or Ethernet uses a physical (MAC) address to identify it.

They have to resolve the IP with a protocol like ARP (they ask every device if they have the IP address x.x.x.x)

The IP protocol is useful to route the information through networks that work differently, and that possibly can't transmit packets of the same size (eg: the cellular and the Ethernet network).

That's an heavy protocol: on simple networks, like bluetooth, it's better not to use an IP address. Bluetooth uses just a physical address.
