Install broadband or use the phone as a personal hotspot? (8)

Hello everyone:

I don't know what to do, so I hope someone can quide me through this or offer me some advice.

Problem:

I am going to the UK soon and won't have internet there nor phone. I've got to buy a SIM card and I've been pondering about installing broadband in my flat.

The thing is that, I see there are some SIM plans that include all-you-can-eat data and allow you tethering, with a Personal Hotspot allowance of 4GB a month. I want to save up as much money as possible so if I can use my mobile phone as a "modem" for my computer and consequently don't find the necessity in installing broadband then... that's perfect.

The only broadband package I can get for my area is one of 17 Mbps.

Data:

I live with another person.
I use internet for: general browsing (either for leisure and university related work), music and video streaming (Spotify, YouTube, VK films...) and downloads (these, more rarely).

So what do you recommend me to do?
Buy the SIM card and use it for tethering?
Or get a SIM card (perhaps with a smaller data plan) and install the broadband?

1 Youtube video : 50 Mo
1 1080p movie : 1.5 Go
1 video stream : ~ 700 ko/s
1 picture : 2 Mo

So you can watch 3 movies and 10 Youtube videos in one month.
Or one hour and a half or video stream. (yup, streams behave differently from video files. Compression and encoding mainly).
Pretty few.

I'm using up to 500 Go per month. I would advise you to take this broadband package.

Yeah, I've started researching about how much 4 GB actually is and I would consume them within a week of normal use for sure. The broadband package is a better option.

However, that SIM card plan is pretty good for mobile phone use, since I do have unlimited data if I stick to my phone.
What do you think?

All you can eat data
300 minutes
All you can eat texts

for 15 pounds per month.

How long do you stay in England ?

If that's just for a few weeks, maybe using a public hotspot could be sufficient.

Your phone data plan is good.
Interesting question raised by Hiroki is knowing for how long you'll stay in England (what a surprise BTW, I'm moving in UK in less than 10 days too!).
I think It'll all boil to your stay duration.

Sorry for answering this late, my computer died on me.
I'll be staying for 10 months, so perhaps 4GB per month isn't enough.
I use my laptop and/or tablet everyday without exception.
By the way, thank you everyone for replying to my thread.

If you use Internet everyday, get that broadband connection.
Also, about your computer dying, do you need some help to make it work again? Describe your problem.

I will install the broadband, thank you for your advice.
And also, thank you for offering help regarding my computer. I called a technician and solved it. It seems it was a wiring problem.
Now it works perfectly.

Thank you everyone again! ( n . n )
