Theroretical Physics has become physics? (12)

Just a few days ago, A research paper from the Netherlands seems to have proven how "Entanglement" truly works in Quantum physics. To be short, Entanglement is touching a particle at your location, and one from very far away responding to the touch instantaneously, while having no signal or attachment to one another whatsoever. It appears that the father of science, Albert Einstein, who refused to believe that the universe could be so unreasonable, may have been wrong. The paper has yet to go under peer review but It's caused such an uproar just from the review of a scientific journal. I think this is actually rather amazing news among science and a leap forward into the future. I am curious of the views and opinions of others about the subject.

Well, I think it's a bit of an overstatement to call Einstein the father of science. He did a lot of good work, but his later career is quite a bit less impressive and in areas that he had held firm beliefs he later had to backtrack and admit he was wrong. So the fact that Einstein might be wrong isn't in itself surprising or game-changing.

As for the subject of the paper itself, could you link to it? It sounds interesting. In any event, waiting to see how peer review comes along is always important.

Sure thing. I'll see If I can even get a copy of the paper itself If you would like.

Sounds pretty neat.

I couldn't seem to find the paper itself, which is a shame because i would love to study it, but I have found a newer articles on the subject on the following site:

I'm giving it a read now, but I noticed that the news article linked to the paper: http://arxiv.org/abs/1508.05949

There are PDF links on the right.

My Mind is just racing and bursting all at the same time with the applications of the information we can obtain from this in just the next 10 years alone. I wanna study it until I have learned everything about it i can. But I don't have the equipment nor resources to make it to the university in Calgary to study with them. I guess I could look into the University of Tennessee and Oak Ridge National Laboratories, though I doubt they will be as in depth on the matter.

I must have missed that. I'll go check it out right away. This is getting to be exciting!

XD it's certainly an exciting field. As for studying it, well, the internet is evidently a marvellous starting point. If you want to go further than that, then that requires some careful consideration.

I know :) But I guess I have a soft spot for knowledge. The way I see it, there is always something more to learn and almost exclusively is that information a good thing to know. Speaking of which, I noticed there is a check-box that says "Sage" in the corner of the responses, as well as when starting a new thread. What is that for?

It's a good mentality, I can sympathise with that.

From what I gather, when 'sage' is unchecked a reply bumps the thread to the top of the forum's page but when checked the reply is posted but the thread is not moved up. I guess it's allows for conversations to finish and threads to move into the backlogs easier.

Ah, Pretty smart. It keeps the clutter to a minimum. Thanks.
