If anyone is experienced in coding Android applications, I have a small favor to ask.
I need a very simple app built that would ping a server status every 40 or so seconds, and display the output as a small picture in my notifications. It needs to be a permanent notification, and stay in the system.
There would be three color keys for the app. Green means the server is online.
Red means it's offline.
And Yellow means that a connection can't be made (for refreshing the status/when data is off.)
I can't imagine it'd be very hard to create this app. I can provide the resources needed for the pictures, but that's about all I really know how to do when it comes to coding for android.
If someone could write this up for me, it would be very much obliged. I can owe you a favor, but that's about all the payment I have.

Yeah this doesn't help me even remotely if i have no skill in programming. VB6 just made me put a hole in my computer. I can't do this stuff.

There are already apps that do this, I used to use one that even sent me an sms if server went offline

First one is only for server administrators. haven't checked out the second yet.
Google offered nothing specific and simple to use within a ffew pages of my search terms.

Pingability is unusable, as I requested a permanent notification, not constant messaging rates and an email every minute telling me the server was offline because it couldn't be connected.
Seriously, yeah, I can't find what I'm looking for, but I know there are some programmers around here, and for someone who is experienced, it will only take 20 minutes, tops, to create this program. I've seen worse programmers do more in less time.
Also, as a side note, Android SDK doesn't run on my ancient computer, so even if I wanted to start learning to program on android, I'm literally, physically unable >.>
