What kind of advancements in biotechnology do you hope to see in your lifetime? Personally I hope we can get at least some basic genetic engineering for our children if people get too annoyingly squeamish around the idea of genetic modification.
Im currently reading about a Genetic engineering book. It says that they tried taking human dna and putting it into a pig so the effects would be like making the pig large. But the actual effect is quite different. The pig got cholesterol and heart disease instead. I don't think biotechnology is much helpful. I prefer nano technology though.
>>2 A pig being fucked up over one situation doesn't at all mean biotech as a whole isn't helpful. We've obtained many medicines/cures because of biotech.
Not really useful in any way I don't think, but pretty interesting. How big BioTech will be depends on your definition. External growth of tissues already happens, and as we get better at it we could potentially grow organs and meat. That would solve two large problems. Genetic screening for various conditions already exists, and we already GM bacteria and stuff to create drugs.
