Anime/Manga in real life (22)

1 Name: Network-Sama : 2014-12-31 23:30 ID:tcbJmyVg [Del]

There are a few things I'd like to see come to life. Such as nerve gear from SAO (Sword Art Online for those unaware) and Neuro Linkers (from the same guy who made SAO in a Anime/Manga called Accel World) post your thoughts on what these would be like and the pros and cons for world. More so neuro linkers for tey would be more benificial

Pros: No more need for computers or laptops, Possible endless data, school projects an such would be a breeze, apps (like having a net navi :P MMBN), one less factory needed so more places for reforestation if smart people are buying the place, and much more

Cons: Cost for such a tool which should be cheap due to fact its a computer necklace and most like made of plastic they will have warranty will probably be 50$ dollars anyway, people will become less social more than they are now (depends on shape of world at the time), many satellites in the sky for world wide wifi LOTS OF MONEY, knowing how people are someone will hack so we need people to help keep it safe, and much more

Those are few to start you off keep the thread live and clean please this is always an interesting topic with many different ways to go about it.

Forgot to put this down but also think of attachments you can put on such a device as downloadable games that come small SD card form that you put in and download the game maybe and have a controller you can connect instantly. I advise you to look up Neuro Linker on the Accel World wiki I will put the link down.

Link to wiki so can knw more of the Accel World Neuro Linker:

I watched SAO awhile ago, so my memory of Nerve Gear is a bit fuzzy. From what I remember of NG, the idea seems like a cool and helpful invention/innovation. My only concern is hackers (even if the user isn't in a digital world and still consciously in the real world, a hacker could still deal serious damage to the user's brain or nervous system), though that's a risk that comes with most things electronic nowadays, it seems. I guess that would be up to the consumer then. *mimes digital typing* *does some Tony Stark swipes and pictures some Jarvis projections*

My two cents:
-3D Maneuver Gear from Attack on Titan/Shingeki no Kyojin, preferably without the weaponry attached (both makes them lighter and less of a muscle strain for users and safer for the general population). I'd have to think of the various methods of propelling those pointy-grabby spike thingys. In the show and manga, they seemed to use steam as a propellant, but I wonder what would happen if some sort of chemical mixture, like gunpowder, was used instead. Also, how would use be regulated on a mass scale?
-ATs from Air Gear (I heard some were in development, but not sure...still would be cool)

>Possible endless data
>No more need for computers or laptops

This makes no sense. People still use desktops even though we have laptops, tablets, phones, etc. There's always disadvantages new technologies that seem better in every way bring. There's also human crap that you can't predict (like the reason people still read books and don't use E-Readers, for the 'feel').

Also, what does 'endless data' mean?

I see where your getting at and understand that its confusing. As what I meant for endless data is unlimited downloads. No more need for desktops and laptops was a bit too much I guess. But with current advancements I cant see how we cant have key board adjustments.

>>5 Why would any of the above technologies allow for 'unlimited downloads'? I have unlimited downloads right at this moment without any of this, not cap on my data. I have a limited speed, but that will never change. You can't increase the speed of light. There will always be a limit, and I don't see how this will change that.

>>6 Okay I get what you mean sorry I wasn't thinking about the fact that people have unlimited data plans and stuff.

"No more need for computers or laptops"
Nah if you are referring to SAO under same subject, you are wrong. They use nervegear, but they still need a computer for it.

thats true well then for nerve gear computer needed and for Neuro Linkers nothing needed but Neuro Linker

I think having some kind of limited augmented reality like they have in the Anime/manga "Psycho pass" would also be cool especially for outdoor games and cosplay to make you're self look like an anime character. :P

I think what would be cool is to have 'Angelic layer' come to life. A game where you can control dolls (angels) with your mind and they battle each other. I think it is actually possible in the near future (maybe even now!). People have already invented various things you can use your mind to control. Someone just needs to give the idea now...

All of it true but problems with that will make most people lazy and society won't be bothered to do anything, the positive is that people would be able to experience things that others wouldn't have been able to have seen before

I can agree with everything said here. Although, I found Psycho-Pass boring within the first episode, and I can't get past the first episode, I think any anime set in this world, with not much action would pass. Although, there's going to be that one guy who says something like Attack on Titan or Akame Ga Kill (manga is better), I honestly think something like, ironically, Durarara would be a good fit. Maybe Clannad and Clannad After Story (you can cry)? I dunno.

Well... There is this:

They are close and sony is working for it not to sure abot neuro linker and think the oculus the youtubers that do scary games like pewds and markiplier I think thats the proto type to this stuff.

18 Name: Network-Sama : 2015-01-07 19:10 ID:tcbJmyVg [Del]

Oh yea and Cryptic funny picture cracks me up every time

Sony has been working on this project for a while and the oculus was sold to Facebook and they pretty much scrapped the idea. I think that if the oculus was sold to Sony then they would be that much closer to virtual reality and wouldn't have that much more they would have had to have worked on.

I think VR for commercial use is still pretty far. The things that you can control with your mind? I heard it's a b**ch to use if you only think for fun because it's reading your brainwave from outside your skull when in fact reading brainwave from inside the skull accurately is already hard enough. And there's another health problem regarding the heat produced by such hi-spec machine on your head so it can't me made of plastics. And the weight. Although the weight problem should be eliminated quickly since Intel just finished the flashdisk sized PC that run Windows 8.1 and Linux.

And the pros. Putting those otaku and nerdy needs beside, it's actually pretty beneficial to cure blind, deaf, and mute. It could also be used to learn how to drive a car or piloting a plane with no risk of death. And don't forget about medicuboid from SAO which can be used to totally paralyze patient's body during surgery.

PS: Actually having oculus rift is actually unrelated with the whole NVG things. The main blunder for developing NVG is the fact that NVG can read your brainwave so accurately that you can move your avatar's hand like you move your own hand. And the fact that it can write back the sensation from your avatar back into your brain. 3D viewer is pretty much unrelated to those things.
Btw if I have to guess which company would release the damn thing first, I'll put my bet on Google X.

Well while Sony is still developing the product, it appears Samsung has immediately decided to claim ownership to the idea... most probably it is product with limited function. That's Samsung for you....

Still looking forward to the sony ones.
