Virtual Reality has become a really hot topic these days. The implications of this new technology are outstanding. With our modern technology and new advancements. Virtual reality can revolutionize our way of life. Forget that failed Virtual Boy, real tangible virtual reality devices are already available or will be available. From the Oculus Rift to Sony's Project Memphis. What are you hopes and visions of virtual reality? Do you think Virtual Reality will just be another Google glass fail or do you think society will embrace it?

I think that the prospects that AR and VR will bring to day to day life are endless

I think it will be a big revolution, but I don't know if we'll use it daily or just occasionaly..
I just hope that something like a Nerve Gear with a game like SAO will be available in a short time !

that would be awesome as long as we don't actually die in real life if we die in the game

That would be a dream come true

Sony has also developed a similar device better than oculus rift! But the nervegear-like is too far in my opinion :/

I agree with AnotheR. modern technology develops quickly, but something like nervegear and amusphere is still far from reality, however I don't say it is impossible to create,just.... it's way too complicated. It needs really serious researches and work.

Actually, there is one technology even closer to nerve gear than oculus rift. It's called Emotiv founded by Tan Le. I found a youtube video on its demostration and it's even uploaded in 2008!

Apparently the headset which is non-invasive to the brain reads the electrical signals from the skulls and input those signals to move virtual things and virtual bodies around without moving your physical body! Isn't that similar to the paralysis concept of nerve gear?

I find all these reallu interesting, Oculus Rift, that Sony's VR headset, Google glasses, Cyberith Virtualizer, Virtuix Omni etc. etc., but I'd say that we have still long way to go to "nervegear like vr device". But that's just how world works, we can't expect to get something like that immediately. Of course there has to be development.
I got to try the newest version of Oculus Rift and I'd say it feels really good. I know I WILL buy it when the consumer's version comes this year. It's still better than nothing and it's excellent for horror games.

i wouldn't try with the PlayStation VR because it costs as much as the ps4. and i bet that the oculus rift is STILL better than the PlayStation VR.
