I believe the items are stored in another dimension beyond our own. Most likely, given the nature a Hypercube in (also known as a tessaract) as being able to be represented beyond our 3 dimensions, they are most likely stored in the fourth dimension. Since we are not truly aware of the nature of said fourth dimension, for now, we can only assume it would make sense that he would be able to store so much within such a small 3-dimensional space, if you take into account the extra "empty" space of a 4th dimension beyond conventional access and perception of our 3D world. In this respect, I guess one could say that the cube somehow converts the objects into 4 dimensions, and stores them. It would be like if he was a drawing on a piece of paper, and the hypercube allowed him to store items outside of the paper in the 3rd dimension. Plenty of space outside of the paper, right?. How he gets the right items back out, though, it beyond me. Hope this helps
