I think the idea of giving amputee's a way to maneuver around there lost limbs is always a good idea, but wasn't Automail steam based? IDK how practical that would be, and I'm not familiar on normal day Prognostics.

>>3 I saw something similar to this in National Geographic magazine ages ago. The article was about a prosthetic arm that used neural sensors outside the skin to sense the nerves output. Then this info was used to control this robot looking arm thing.

this kind of stuff would realy help everyone, problem is that it would cost a hell of alot of money.

It already exists. By instering a sensor chip in the brain, the sensor picks up activity in cerrtain smaller areas of the brain responsible for controlling the extremeties (fingers and toes). The chip relays a specially coded signal to the arm that powers the fingers to move according to the wearers' will. Another sensor inside the arm/leg at the attachment point monitors muscle twitches and moves the limb according to what the muscle twitches suggest. The combination of these allows automail to exist. However, it is an incredibly large amount of money and I have no clue how they would charge the brain monitor. Id post a link, but since I'm in school, youtube is blocked. Sorry guuys. Just look up "prosthetic limbs" in the yt searchbar and you'll find it eventually.

I think its still impossible for us to develop to this stage..coz activating brains Motor areas are done in upside down hommunculus through internal capsule....so a simple chip couldn't activate such skilled movements.. ..

True, the chip itself would not. But the chip is merely a relay point. It senses the part of the brain tht says "move my thumb" and then send a code to the hand and the motor in the hand moves the thumb according to the code given to it by the chip. Much like your boss sending you a ttext message to relocate where you hang your uniform at work. However, because it is still in prototype stage, the arm response is delayed and sluggish in comparison to the real thing, the arms' full capabilities are to be unlocked as of yet. Even still, its a step in the right direction.
