Cloning? (13)

I'm not sure if this thread belongs here but I really feel like asking. Is cloning good for us? From what I've heard, some animals have already been cloned. However, the chances of failure are 98%. Even if the clone were to be born, it would have some sort of fatal sickness.
So... Do you think we should clone animal and humans? Your personal opinion is well appreciated! ^^

Simply, its a good idea, but its not ready for actual use yet. right now is still experimental for the most part. Right now it is not so good for the individual, but in 100 years it will probably be more viable than it is today.

>>3 You are really starting to get on my nerves. Stop. Thread. Whoring. This is not an idea, this is a topic of discussion.

Cloning is a scary prospect. Suddenly all those Sci-fi, future world war movies seem a lot closer. I don't know about the technology being developed but do you remember the sheep they managed to clone the DNA of? They are also breeding Tasmanian Tiger DNA in Dingo embryos, which is a sort of cloning. It's a really interesting topic.

>>4 yea, I've heard of Dolly the Sheep. As for your last statement, won't it be kind of... mutated if one were to put an embryo into a totally different animal? I've heard that some people are trying to recreate a mammoth tho. But, putting the mammoth embryo into a elephant might not work at all. Even if it did succeed in cloning, I reall don't want to see the results.

Anyway, thank you for your opinions you two! ^^

>>5 Dingos share very similar DNA structures to the Tasmanian Tigers. They originally were trying it with a mouse but it didn't work out.
