Hey guys after being around the web the last couple of months I have been hearing about these three "consoles"or what ever you want to call them. They are the Ouya(top left) steam box(bottom left) and the Razer edge(bottom right).
The Ouya if you have not ever heard of it.our is an android based gaming console.
The steam box which I know the least information about is made by valve witch made steam.
Last is the Razer edge which is a full having tablet with an i5 or i7 processor. You can get a dock and plug in some controllers and play any game in Windows because it is running a full version of Windows 8 not just Windows rt.

So I started this form to see which you think will do the best and if they are going in the right directions making consoles smaller. Also I apologize for the picture not being the best and if my spelling or grammar is bad because I did this really quick on my galaxy s3.

Thats actually not the SteamBox. Its related to the SteamBox in some way, but its not the actual, Valve-made SteamBox.

And only the SteamBox, Ouya, and GameStick would be considered next-gen, which is the eigth generation of home consoles. The Razer Edge is part of the mobile family.

The other eigth-gen consoles are the Nintendo Wii U, Microsoft's Xbox(Codenamed Durango), and Sony's Playstation 4(Codenamed Orbis, though a trademark by developer Quantic Dream points to the official name being Playstation 4.). The last 2 are going to be announced this year no later than E3 in June, and are rumored to be set to launch Holiday 2013 with both their lineups of launch games to be announced at E3 2013.

O sorry I thought I heard that the steam box was made by valve.also I wouldn't put the steam box and Ouya in the same category with the Xbox 720 and ps3. Though the Wii u is just derping somewhere in space saying I don't give a ****. Though that is just my opinion.

Also isn't the Ouya a picture of Piston? Are they the same thing?

I pre-ordered the ouya from kickstarter.The king cost 99$ and it ships out in a few months. The developer consoles are already out so the game market can be populated. It is the top right in the picture. I can't wait for mine!

I've never understood the appeal of the Ouya. What does it do that would make me want it?

I hear the Ouya is only gonna be $99? Anyone know how that's gonna work?

The Ouya is a very impressive system and seems to cut the middle man out of the picture when it comes to buying games and may ease the online experience in the gaming industry. Nice to see Android reaching out in the gaming department more.

We are almost there for the PS4 :D

I don't really like the next generation of consoles. They're all using downloadable games, there's no disks anymore. I thought the disks were very efficient.

Just not for PS1, 2 and 3 games.

They will probably, eventually, allow free Cloud Usage (and pay to have more space) so that you can eventually have PS1,2 and 3 games copied over from the PS3 and your PSN information.

The PS4 will ONLY play PS4 games both Physical and Digital. When they say emulation, they don't mean physical discs, they mean downloadable. Basically, you will be able to play PS3, PS2, and PS1 games, but have to download them digitally(and pay for them a second time if you already owned them, or maybe this is your first time.). Honestly, I hope they upload the entire game catalog from each of the past consoles. So many gems that I want to play. I have working PS1, PS2, and PS3, but there are a lot of good games that I missed and can't seem to find a copy of.

So, with all the systems officially announced now, what does everyone think? Personally, I can't decide between the Xbox One and the PS4. I like them both. The fee's for Xbox One don't bother me in the least. I plan on getting all the next-gen systems(That includes Wii U), i'm just having trouble deciding which to get first. It'll probably come down to exclusive games.

That'll come in handy for families or groups.

PS4, as always, has better hardware then the Xbox, Sony has a lot of game partners, Microsoft has 'em to but they don't realy make popular games, so far I've only seen exclusive content for CoD and Fifa for the Xbox but that's just game content.
PS4 has already announced PS4 exclusive games in its convention.

How does the Razor Edge keep cool? My laptop runs an i5 and overheats on some games unless I crank the fans up and limit the processor a little.
