Bloom Boxes, our saviour? (3)

One thing the world is desperately in need of, as evidenced by our climate changes, scientific research, and everyone with more than two brain cells, is a clean renewable source of energy that can outpace things like fossil fuels in the global market. So far, the leading names in this innovation are wind energy, nuclear energy (and before you say anything against nuclear energy do your research), hydrogen fuel cells, and solar energy. What do all of those have in common that's stopping them from doing things like power our cars, our houses, and our electronic devices? They're all extremely expensive or not as efficient as fossil fuels.
So what else is there to help us?
Turns out, science has answered that question for us by inventing Bloom Boxes (http://www.bloomenergy.com/fuel-cell/energy-server/). Bloom boxes are made of inexpensive materials and are capable of running cheaply and efficiently at the same time while not being pieces of shit.
So why haven't you heard of them? That wasn't rhetorical. Why is it that no one seems to have heard of these and they aren't in every house in the nation? If you can, try to answer that question below and talk about what you think these could do for humanity, the upsides and downsides you think there are, and if you'd rather have this or something else. Intelligent discussion please.

I would think the reason no one has heard of those fuel cells is greed. Natural gas has a strangle hold on the energy market and not many companies will back down because there is a better way. All they care about is money so why not silence or play down competition? Also, electricity and oil both had their rise to power because of dedicated people (Rockefeller, Edison, J.P. Morgan)who didn't want to help people but make money and saw potential in such services their products could be used in. The only way I can see other forms of power and generation techniques being used is if a business man thinks he can capitalize on it. Then it will spread. Myself, I think that a clean energy source would cause humanity to advance and as a whole have a better standard of living. However, I don't think that humanity would be equal or that the standard of living would increase dramatically since greed will always effect who can have what. If there were clean energy, society built around oil might have to adapt(bloomenergy hyperlink said they could use fossil fuels) since its uses would change. I don't know how much sense I made but this is a interesting topic. Looking forward to hearing others ideas and opinions!

Even though influence from more prominent companies, shareholders, and investors can possibly affect the success of new technologies that may change the scope of the power industry, it is necessary to realize that this is not the only factor that holds attributes to the lack of knowledge of these technologies in respect to the general public.

It has been noted that there has been a new focus to promoting green energy, but the fact of the matter is that most of the lack of knowledge in this area generally comes from a lack of prominent public relations. That is, the reason something like bloom boxes are not more known is because they probably don't bother themselves with widespread public relations in specific demographics. And with good reason too.

This most likely stems from the fact that the company really doesn't profit from individuals who are interested in the products. Instead, they profit from larger companies and establishments with a higher energy consumption. This is because the technology itself relies on high density power consumption better suited for multiple buildings and complexes and not something more isolated and localized such as a house.

Even though one could argue that the general knowledge of such a company offering these services can be beneficial, especially for those that plan on powering large establishments, this probably doesn't amount to a huge potential market. Instead, they probably opt to appeal to companies who are already established and have good sized facilities in which the technology in question can do its work until they can further refine the technology to appeal to a broader customer base. The company also has a good idea to who potential customers can be who will actually benefit from the technology, which is probably also why they often don't waste time getting to people who won't really have much a need for the boxes.

I still believe that there should be a greater widespread knowledge about these products and services, but more for the intention of inspiring people to continue to develop new ways to promote green energy rather than for commercial purposes. This is why this job is better suited to the interested public rather than any public relations agent a company may hire.
