Code Geass Audiobook (12)

Okay maggots, listen up. Over the past few days I've been working on a little project. I'm taking the first season of the Code Geass anime and converting it to Audiobook. I'm also slipping in bits of the drama CDs in where they belong chronologically. It's all English Dubbed, 160kbps MP3 format. If enough people want it I will consider uploading it to a server for filesharing purposes.

Right now I've finished converting sixteen of the episodes and it's only at 450MB; by the time I hit the 25th episode it shouldn't be more than 1GB. So if I do this I will need a recommendation on what site to upload it to.

So, who's down for it?

Alright, so an update: if we do this I'm going to DropBox it. Total size should be between 700 and 850 MB. Each episode is divided up, either by half or in a multitude of segments. For example, episode nine is six segments, episode five is four segments, episode ten is in two halves, etc. All in all, it will be close to 100 tracks in total. The finished product will be placed into a zipfile with a misleading name, in order to avoid detection, and the link will be posted here in this thread. I hope to be finished by the end of this week. Is that gonna work for everyone?

Whoa. That is a pretty daunting task. How does it work, are you narrating it and then slipping in the voices of the characters as necessary? I wonder how that would work out.

I'll be sure to download it when you're done in case it gets taken down.

>>3 Here's how it works: I downloaded the video from the series and then converted to audio-only. I then threw it into an audio editor and cut it into sections (2-4 per episode). Finally, I took each section and went through them individually, removing perceived visual cues but keeping all the sequences intact. It's all in order, with bits of the drama CDs in their chronological positions. I just need to finish four of the episodes and it's done. It will be roughly 80 audio tracks (between nine and eleven hours).

>>4 Oh, so it's just the dialogue then. Does that work...? There's nothing that relies solely on visual cues in the show?

I've never actually listened to drama CD's before so I don't know if there's any narration in that or something. I always figured it needed some kind of narration to work, though, without video.

The dialogue styles for the Drama CDs and the actual show aren't too different, which is why it works. There are only two real exceptions (Ticket of Dreams and Brown Agony).

The thing about Code Geass is it's 85% dialogue-driven, 5% visually-driven, and 10% mixed-portion. The mixed-portion segments take a bit of working over, but overall I've kept the storyline intact.

It's like Lucky Star. Lucky Star is 90% dialogue and 10% visual.

>>8 Just the fact that someone else got enjoyment out of it is thanks enough. Also, if you notice any problems with the audio (noise at the start/end of a track, inconsistencies with the storyline, etc.) please let me know. I found two such errors yesterday while listening to the episode 13s, so I may have to release a patch for them.
