So as of a few hours ago, I decided to try to learn to type in this keyboard layout, mostly because .I've heard of a number of things about it, ranging from typing really efficiently to being worse in QWERTY while not doing any better in DVORAK. Anyone else have had experience with it? So far, typing this has been REALLY slow for me.

i have not had experience with this particular layout but i have with other supposed "more efficient" layouts, and I've always found that the one you learned first is the most efficient because it is the most familiar. You could get more used to a different layout but that would take a lot of time and unneeded effort, this one does look interesting though, so i may give it a try, thank you for sharing it.

That seems like too much effort, but that's what I said about a binary watch and I got used to that quickly.

It may just be a matter of how often you type, how quick you type to begin with, and how quickly you can adapt.

Maybe I'll try it sometime. And I'd like to hear how it goes for you.

Switched back to QWERTY for now (Learning a new layout strains your hands after a while). Some thoughts:

1. Keyboard shortcuts are generally designed with qwerty in mind. This means that most of your common shortcuts get switched from your left hand to the right.

2. Might buy another keyboard and convert it to dvorak so I don't have to constantly pop off keys on the one I have now.

never mind about spending money on a new keyboard, I already have one lying around: V

Interesting. I'm pretty good at typing, but I learned it on my own, so switching to another method may slow me down, but with the amount I type I'd get used to it in no time. I might try it out just to see how well it works for me. Of course, I really hope that getting used to a new layout won't fuck me over when I use a different computer or keyboard.
