Help Me ;~; Keyboard problems.... (12)

So ... I kind of spilt soup on my new laptop, and now the keyboard isn't working right. Whenever I go to hit a key, several letters are pressed, and they're not even near each other. Like, pressing the left arrow key produces "ny" and the right one makes ">p", etcetera. I tried taking the keys off to check the physical state, and they're all fine. I assume that it's an electrical problem then, but I have no idea how to fix it. Please help ._. I'm an idiot for causing it in the first place, I know, but I still want to fix it before my mom rips my head off.

by the way, I'm using an on-screen keyboard. Don't mind any typos.

We have a warranty... but my head... I don't want it to get chopped off....

That's what happened to me on my old Laptop. Drinking some water then spilled and started acting weird. Sometimes when i press q it types in "q4" and some keys aren't working. There isn't anyway to fix it. I've tried everything on mine. Just get an external keyboard for your laptop or just replace the keyboard by buying the internal one.

>>1
If you've spilled liquid into the keyboard so that that happens, there's not much you can do.
Follow >>2 and be more careful next time. Either way, accept that you've messed up, and tell your parents. It's under warranty, so it's really not all that bad. Get it repaired for free while you can, if your warranty covers that.

>>3 Most warranties don't cover water damage. I'd suggest you get one that does if you can ever find it. Most warranties also don't fix "user error" kind of problems, so if it's your fault it fucked, they won't fix it. It's true that warranties that will cover it are becoming more popular, but you gotta make sure you have that when you get one.

Barabi, I also say follow >>2. I've done the same thing before.

So... It slowly started working again until it finally got back to normal.

Nevermind, I guess?

>>5 From experience, some of the keys might stop working completely in a few weeks to a few months. Just look out for that.

I will. I use the computer a lot, so I'll definitely notice if something is wrong. Also. >>4 It technically wasn't water damage... It was more like "steaming hot chicken noodle" damage.

1.) Don't fucking eat at the computer.

2.) Depending on the keyboard, keyboards can be anything from easy as pie, a bitch, or straight fucking impossible to fix sticky keys. My laptop fortunately enough has a keyboard that comes off and be replaced. If there's a seam around the keyboard, it is probably just like mine. Otherwise, you have to clean all the sticky shit out.

If you're going to clean it, I recommend a toothpick and Windex to break down the oil and other bullshit that's stuck.

Warning: Laptop keys don't usually come off the same way as normal keyboards. Most of them, as far as the computer mechanic that told me this knows, are on hinges. Find out how your keys come off/open up before trying to clean it then botching the whole thing and rendering it useless.

That's just if you clean it. I really recommend the Mac desktop keyboards if you just buy a new one, specifically external. (Strange, considering I HATE~ Macs.)

If you eat or drink at a computer, back the hell up and do it. I eat all the time here. But I don't go over the keyboard. I eat, then start back doing what I was doing.

The computer was at the other end of the table, but I tripped and the soup went errywere :l I was just typing some things up between commercial breaks. Then I got hungry, moved the computer back, got some soup, and then tripped over nothing the way I have a bad habit of doing when I came back into the living room with it.

But hey! At least the bowl didn't break ;3 (God knows I've broken enough cups recently ._. We're going to run out of dishware at this rate.)

>>10>>9>>8 I've cleaned laptop keys before, first of all, and second of all, I said I already checked. There's nothing stuck under or around the keys; I cleaned it up right after the spill. It was an electrical problem caused by the water in the broth rather than a physical problem caused by the soup itself. >>7 was just my failed attempt at a joke -o-

Anyway, it's working now, so... yeah.
