You have to either format or partition your hard drive to run the OS. Also, it will most likely expire 90 to 180 days after the purchasable release of Win8.

I tried to use windows 8, and I hated it.
I also hate that the 128-bit computers only run windows 8.
There is no 128-bit version of windows 7.

I downloaded the preview (which is SO worth it btw) and I had no problems. I didn't lose anything and it was all fairly easy to find :)
