this all happened last Thursday. i was on my 3DS watching Netflix and i deiced to stop watching it, a few minutes later i couldn't connect to the internet, i deleted the settings and enter it again. still nothing though, i tried my laptop and that won't connect either. i been trying to fix it all weekend. i thought i was fixed but no it keeps dropping me for no reason. yes i unplugged it and re plugged it and still nothing. it's a linksys WRT54G router

Consider flashing your router with Tomato firmware. Not sure if you're having hardware problems (which would probably be a bigger issue), but may as well try that first.

PS: Make sure your router version actually supports it. Those include:
"Linksys WRT54GL v1.x, WRT54G v1-v4, WRT54GS v1-v4, WRTSL54GS (no USB support)"

Other problem might be an issue with your ISP, check if a direct connection to your modem works. If not, give customer suppot a call.

>>5 i had it for two years almost three, so would a new laptop be better than trying to fix it?

At the worst, you could just replace the wifi card, which costs a lot less than replacing the computer. Try reinstalling the wifi drivers first, since that doesn't cost anything.
